So I was wondering if I could get your take on something. DH and I have been talking about for the last few days and really dont know what to make of it.

Background: We live in a pretty cookie cutter neighborhood, really its quite easy to confuse houses around here if you dont pay attention to the house # because they virtually all look alike. Same color/roofs/landscaping etc....

We love Christmas and do up our house every yr, pretty much the same decorations and display but its really nice. We love the way it looks and have had neighbors compliment us on our decorations/setup. It isnt clark w. griswald crazy but its nice/tasteful. Well last wk DH walks inside and says "you have to see xxx house its decorated for chirstmas" I excitedly go outside to see it and literally they have their house decorated the EXACT way we decorate ours...literally the same decorations in the same places. Same bow, same garlands, same everything!!! I dont mean hey we have a santa in the yard and they do too I mean we have the EXACT santa EXACT decorations in the exact same places. Literally it looks like like ours :(

Frankly it makes me a little sad. Now I have to find a way to decorate our house differently (its driving me crazy...I know I know) but seriously im not and cant financially afford to shell out for different decor. Im going to make do with what I have and add a few new things to "change it up" Do you think thats weird?

Yes, weird and creepy. How close is their house to yours? Are you friendly with them?

Move your Santa to a new spot and see if they move theirs! If they do, then you have to move yours every day for the rest of the winter!!

Maybe they just lack creativity and liked what you did?

How detailed is it? I mean, if it's a strand of lights around the porch and a Santa on the lawn, I wouldn't think much of it, but if you have 15 unique non-Target decorations and they're all the same then that's sort of weird. I probably wouldn't feel like I had to change mine over it though (unless it was moving the Santa to mess with them ).

maybe they are old neighbors that are copying you, or maybe they are new and they will think you are copying them!

If htey are pretty generic decorations, it could just be a coincidence

That is hilarious. But it would totally creep me out.

i think it would depend on what you mean by copy. for instance many people outline their roofline with lights and put more around hedging or trees in their yard etc .....there is a limit to how much you can vary the look when your homes already look the same from the outside to begin with.

I dont think it would really bother me.

That is just bizarre. I also would move all my decorations around to see what they do.

i think i'd have to pass that house at least 5 times before i'd notice the similarity. dunno. yeah it would be strange but i dont think i'd mind looking the same. i'd just move a few things around, but not really change much.

I think this is a great place to say "PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!"

I would take some pictures to post here and THEN move things around. Repost pics if they move things too!

And yes it is a bit odd.I understand we get the same supplies at the store, but to place everything in the same place is a bit lazy on their part.

sorry gals I actually got really flustered after I posted and decided to uproot everything in the yard. So right now all my outside decor is laying on my porch waiting....hoping.... they dont take theirs down and put on their porch as well I think I came up with a different setup for our same stuff but basically im just moving stuff around, however I did pick up a few things at the store but I would have anyways (no really I would have) I decided to *retire* some of the decor for this yr so we dont both have the same stuff in our yards.
