maybe someone can tell me why...

NEXT SATURDAY I'LL BE 39 WEEKS, and just a couple days ago my baby was moving around A WHOLE LOT...to the point i would have to stop whatever i was doing and i'd be in a lot of pain/discomfort b/c of the movements...now since yesterday i noticed she isnt moving like she used to..maybe 2-3 times out of the day...usually she even wakes me up from the discomfort...whats going on? i know when you're closer to giving birth the movements slow down b/c they run out of room, but is that considered a little too much slowing down??? b/c i really don't know...when i was pregnant with my other daughter i remember her still moving around, so i don't know what to think...i'd go into l&d but finding time, finding cab money...it's all hectic so i just wanna know if it's okay or not...i just felt her move but not strong like before...and i've been up since 7 am and i only felt her move maybe 3 times if any...i DO get a lot of tightness in my uterus/stomach and my lower back hurts a lot from time to time, yesterday i had such a difficult time walking...everything was killing me...i was walking sideways basically...i don't know whats going on but if someone can give me some input that'd be great!

thanks in advance

First - I'd call your doc or mw. My "when to call" sheet from my mw says to call them whenever I feel that "something isn't right" even if I can't put my finger on it. Intuition is powerful.

Second - I asked my mw this week (38.5 weeks) how much movement I should be expecting now and she said it may be less movement and definitely less vigorous movements. So like tickles and wiggles rather than kicks and rolls.

One idea might be to drink a big glass of OJ and then rest on your side and see if she goes to town or not...

Good luck and happy birthing, whenever it happens!

Call your provider, even if its nothing you will feel better if you know for sure.

It sounds to me like you're pretty worried and that's a bigger clue that something may be off than anything else, IMO. I'd call and go in if they asked me to. It's possible that all of the really big movements were baby settling into a good position and now she's just chilling out. It's also possible that something else is going on. I would follow your gut. Good luck!

I agree with the others - call if you are worried. Get checked. Peace of mind is worth it.

And your intuition is a very, very important thing not to ignore!

i agree with all of you. i feel her moving today a little more than i felt her moving yesterday. i think my body is just getting ready to have her, but if i experience anything else i'm going to go in no matter what, b/c honestly, i want to know what's going on, if i'm dilating or not, b/c my midwife NEVER checks.

Hope you're feeling better about it.

I absolutely agree with everyone else - your weird feeling about things/intuition is the most important . Don't hesitate to go in, get checked and reassured that everything is OK!

i'd call your mw/dr just to make sure, the fact you have felt her move probebly means all is well but i'd still checked out just to make sure

take care

I will be 38w on Thursday. My baby has definitely slowed down in the past few days, a marked decrease in movement. I figure he/she is just running out of usable space in there and my body is gearing up to evict him/her. Of course, like the PPs said, if you are feeling weird about it, call. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Take care!
