Hello!

We have been ECing with ups & downs last week. I was a bit sick and it was not
always very sucessful.

When I was a bit better I got a Baby Björn potty and we caught almost all waking pees since then! BUT for the past two days I seem to be always too late to catch the waking pees.
The thing is DS will start squirming in his sleep, almost wake up and then fall into a quiet sleep again.
I think he pees when he squirms, but he's not really awake. Should I wake him up and put him on the potty anyway? My heart tells me not to, though!

Also often when I put him on the potty whe he's awake he will not go. So I put a CD on him and he pees even before I was able to tie the CD ...
How long do I hold him on the potty?
Is there anything I can do to stimulate him to pee in the potty, like massage his belly? (I do tell him "Try to do pipi! Pipi! Sssssssssst! Pipi!")

How old is your son? Sometimes while going through anything, a devolpmentla milestones, growth spurt, or even getting sick, it sets things back. So I have found out. We have been doing this a little over 3 months so not like I am an expert or anything. Probably the biggest thing you can do is relax. I ask my daughter if she has to pee, in a certain tone. There was a time that I had to go back to holding her over the sink instead of using her potty. Try some things to see if he is more comfy that way, like different ways of holding him, using a potty, nursing while using a potty. WE had a horrible time when she started rolling over on her belly. Even if I had just recently peed her, she would pee as soon as she went on her belly. I know it isn't an option for everyone, but she is naked all day. I don't like putting a diaper on her unless it is for night time or for going out. Hopefully things will get better for you soon. From what I understand, there are many ups and downs with this.
Thanks for your reply! You confirmed what I already suspected about the develpomental milestones "interfering" with the EC. My little boy is 4 months old and did his first complete back-belly-back turn this very morning!

Unfortunately it is too cold here to have him be naked all day. But I feel that EC is not an "all or nothing" thing. So I see the "misses" al learning experiences for both of us.

I could have written your post. Garrett and I have gone through all of that at some point.

He probably is peeing when he squirms. Garrett normally doesn't wake all the way up when he pees at night. I don't both with the potty. Sleep is too important. I will just change his diaper. (He normally sleeps through that.) I can actually feel him pee at night if I'm half awake. He moves his stomach when he goes.

I struggle too with knowing how long to keep him on the potty. Hopefully our sons will start letting us know when they are finished. I often will say something like "one more min and I'm taking you off" and right before I take him off he poos. :LOL But sometimes I also take him off and he will pee on me. It has all gotten better. It just takes time. (Maybe if he didn't go you can offer the potty again in about 2 or 3 min. That seems to work for us a lot. I let Garrett stand up nakes a while and then sit him down again and he goes.)

Being sick will put things back also. My husband was sick for a week and Garrett had a little cold. I was really relaxed then. There was too much going on.
