DS has always LOVED this book. And we read it all jazz style. Very cool book in this house.

I voted other. I don't love it the way I do Where the Wild Things Are -- it seems disjointed and bizarre, and not in a compelling way, to me. But the art is wonderful! And some of it really resonates -- I'm in the milk and the milk's in me ...

Its DD's favorite. Although, every time we read it she asks why we don't have cake for breakfast! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I was reading the reviews on Amazon about it and they're so mixed... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
I love it. I picked it up at the campus library for my kids and took it home, and when I read it with them their reaction was overwhelmingly positive. My dd (2!) even already has parts memorized... she sits there and flips through the pages and then goes "MIK for a batter MIK for a batter! MIX IT MIX IT MIX IT MIX IT..." <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"><br><br><br>
It's so absurd and so surrealistic....<br><br><br><br>
But then, I also have a gigantic Dali reproduction hanging in my dining room. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

I also love it. I've loved it my whole life. My kids love it. I can't count the number of times I've given it as a gift.<br><br>
I love the old audio version (I have it on vinyl) with Tammy Grimes reading it. Her voice is so deep and throaty and it just *works* with the cadence of the book. Very nice.<br><br>

When my DS was 4 we borrowed it from the public library and everytime we returned it, he would choose it again on our next trip, so finally I went to our little bookstore in town and bought it for him. I can't tell you how many times we've read that book.<br><br>
Mickey is not circ'ed either!
