Hello
My nearly 7 year old has a dx of PDD with mania, anxiety and adhd. His biomedical Dr suggested we try Inositol powder to see if it helped with the high anxiety DS has.

Has anyone used this? Did you see good results? How much did you give? I've been giving 1 to 3 tsp daily.. but I forget some days.. so I'm not consistent.. and I'm not seeing any results.. is this something that needs to build up in his system to help him??

Thanks

My husband has taken it off and on to fight his depression. (Recommended by my midwife, she uses it for post partum depression.)

It did help him. He says he did not feel any different (still stressed) but he was remarkably better to me (more energy, closer to his old self).

He took 1000mg by capsule per day. I think it was recommended for him to take up to 2000mg per day).

We've used it for my ds (8 yo) for nights when he has trouble getting to sleep. We use about 700 mg. We open the capsule onto his tongue. It's very sweet.

I haven't, but I remember other parents discussing it's use and the research behind it on the ocdandparenting yahoo group. You could join that group and ask about it there. Most people were using both that and fish oil--I think the ocd advice would be similar to general anxiety advice.

Thank you!
Where can I get the pills? He is supposed to take between 1 and 4 tsp daily. 1/4 tsp = 700 mg of Inositol.. so between 2800mg and 5600mg daily... It is a lot of powder to go through.. One of the reasons I haven't been giving it regularly..

We don't have those around here Maybe the Vitamin Shoppe?? I'll have to see..perhaps the brand of the powder we have sells pills online. From what I'm reading, I need to give it every day to see any results.. so I need to be diligent!

It is probably easy to find online. I believe ours are made by Jarrow if that helps. I've seen it at Vitamin Shoppe too. Which is way cheaper than Whole Foods.

There's some good info. on using it here (though they're using for OCD, I imagine the dosage is similar).
