I have been reading that some people have used an "instead" cup as part of at home insemination. Anyone had luck with that?
What are the benefits?

Would I just suction the sperm out of the tube and put it into the instead cup and insert?
It sounds like I could mess that up more than just inserting w- a syringe.

what about putting it in directly after inseminating w- a syringe?

I have also read about cervical caps- but I don't have one. and also would feel that it may not be the best idea?
Thanks for input in this

I would highly recommend using the Instead cup. We conceived our second month of using it for our home insemination attempts. We found it was easy to use (we put it in place after injecting the semen onto the cervix) and comfortable to wear. Whe we would remove it several hours later we found hardly any liquid in it - a good sign that most if not all of the semen had passed through the cervix. Feel free to PM me for more information. We are expecting at the end of November!

I've only heard of people using it with fresh sperm, not frozen (there is a huge quantity difference). I would be a little worried about it myself, that it might somehow draw the semen away from the cervix, as I've heard that a speculum can do.

One of the reasons why I loved doing IUIs was because of the reassurance that the sperm couldn't "fall out" after they'd been placed in my uterus. I can see why something like the instead cup would be appealing.

Does the INSTEAD® Softcup® have any latex?

No, there is absolutely no latex used anywhere in INSTEAD® Softcup®. The INSTEAD® Softcup® reservoir is made of Polyethylene. It is non-irritating, non absorbent thermoplastic material that has been used for more than twenty years in health care items such as catheters and baby bottle nipples.
