I am a LLL Leader, and I asked a local pump rental station about it for my own knowledge, and they said that insurance will cover pump rental when it is ordered by a doctors presciption, when "medically necessary". I asked her what that meant and she said, if baby can not nurse and the doctor has determined that the baby can only take breast milk, or in cases of engorgement and baby is hospitalized etc. Going back to work she said is NOT covered, because it is a choce and is not medically necessary.

I also believe that it is only covered in the first 6 months, maybe longer if a "doctor" ay breast milk is the only think the baby can have.

Seeing that it was to keep your supply up, they may not, looking back on it, you might have asked a doctor to prescribe it for you...but hindsight is always 20-20!

Good luck getting them to pay for it
