I am starting my own LLC in MD. My DH has agreed to let me use the 3rd floor as a studio, but he is very nervous about me operating without liability coverage specific to the LLC (i.e. someone breaks an ankle). I am seeing the lawyer this afternoon and will clarify the state regulations, but I would like to hear what other educators operating out of their homes are doing for insurance coverage.

Thanks for any input!

A fellow CBE mentioned it and her home insurance almost doubled. I haven't done anything extra.

We have an umbrella policy that covers stuff like this. You definitely want to make sure you check with your homeowners insurance company because if you aren't covered and something happens they could potentially not pay a claim.
