intact question

614 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Quirky
My son is 3, and intact. We've had no problems so far, but for the last week he's been complaining about his penis being sore, and it looks a little different than usual. Near the base the skin is normal, but the skin seems to be extra tight. The rest of his penis is quite red, and lumpy/swollen.

I'm so sorry to seem ignorant about this, but my DH is circ'd and has no idea how a normal penis should look either. We are hesistant to call the dr because we don't want his foreskin touched.

Should I be concerned, or is this normal?

Give it a few days and see what happens. It might just be separating and the 'lumps' you see are smegma pearls trying to work their way out. If he's urinating okay and doesn't have a fever and isn't in real pain, just leave it for a day or two and see if it works itself out. If not, then you can see a doc and people here will 'coach' you on how to handle it.
Thanks for your response. He's not in real discomfort, and is peeing well, so I guess waiting and watching would be o.k.
He may be undergoing some separation trauma as the foreskin's adhesions release. Check out the sticky at the top of the forum. Just keep an eye on it, it ought to get better soon!
