Got any suggestions on interesting fruit/veggie combos? A friend suggested carrot and cauliflower, or avocado and papaya.

*Ducking to miss the flames*

My DS is 6.5 months and LOVES his purees. Sits in his chair like a little baby bird waiting for the next spoonful. Makes a delicous humming sound as he swallows each one

We also give soft chunks but he can't get them into his mouth fast enough! I find everything gets too slippery and smooshy for him to hold after he's had it for a minute or two

Anyhoo- some things we have tried so far- (he hasn't turned ANYTHING down except avocado
)

Butternut and Prunes
Lentils and carrots
Sweet potato and brown rice
Gemsquash and peas
Apples and Oatmeal
Roasted parsnips and Carrots
Apples and Parsnips
Lentils and prunes

Sometimes we add something called "laban" that's available here in the middle east. It's basically like plain whole milk yoghurt, but in a drinkable form, with added cultures. Delicious.

If any of the purees are too thick, we just add laban (in small amounts) or breastmilk.

Tonight we will try Apricots and Brown rice.

The following is just a sampling of the flavor combinations my 12 month old enjoys...
:

*banana with oatmeal
*apples with blueberries, pears, or strawberries
*green beans or peas with a tiny amount of powdered garlic
*butternut squash with a dash of nutmeg
*potatoes and broccoli
*apples or sweet potatoes with chicken
*asparagus with salmon
*plain yogurt blended with most any fruit or veggie is a huge hit!
*green peas scrambled with egg yolk is also very popular...

*a simple bechamel sauce blended with a flavorful cheese and drizzled
(or blended) on most any veggie makes a great dinner "entree" for your LO

Just remember that what may seem like a strange flavor combination to us may very well be super yummy for a LO. Most LO's will readily eat fruits and veggies if they are presented in a flavorful way...I will too
!

BTW, I agree...wholesomebabyfood.com is a great resource

Actually, the couscous, sultanas and apple sounds nice for any age.

If that was from my list? I got the idea from one of my fave baby cookbooks called Mommy Made (and Daddy, too!) and the apples, raisins and couscous are prepared with a little butter, apple juice, and a cinnamon stick!

Could you try it with millet or quinoa? Similar texture, slightly different taste...
