Any Norwegian moms here that know much about the International Schools in Norway? There are 5 from what I can find (well, I guess maybe 7 - one of those is for little ones and one is a British Int'l School). We are quite interested in dh doing a year teaching stint over there so we have an excuse to move to Norway for a while. I wish one was down near Tvedestrand so we could live at our family home. But, I am fantasizing of living in Stavanger or Kongsberg or such and just losing ourselves in the culture. Anyone move over from the states for an extended stay? Any btdt stories? I haven't been back for 16 years, yet have dreamed of going back there so many times. Anyways, this is a ramble and I need to go eat.

Hi! I live in Kongsberg. I am an American who just moved here with my Norwegian husband and 3 yo daughter. I don't know much about the International School. I thought about applying for my daughter for barnehage there, but we have decided to go to a Norwegian speaking school, since our move is a permanent one.

I can tell you what I know about Kongsberg, though! I have only been here since April, but it is really lovely. The city, to me, is just the right size. I feel comfortable getting around (I'm not a big city person), but there is everything you need as far as services, shopping, etc. Like all of Norway, it is expensive, I am still getting used to the prices. I have decided to not convert everything back to US dollars and just buy what I need, it costs what it costs and you simply have to pay it. You gotta eat, right? Also, we chose to move here, and I I feel like the cost of living here is worth it. The mountains are beautiful, postcard views everywhere you look. If you have any specific questions, please ask, I will do my best to find answers. I am still learning about this new place!
