Okay, I thought I was all set and now I'm kind of freakin' out that I'm not. I've read some other posts that give their newborn/small stash and my stash doesn't even come close. Am I covered? Do I need more? I have...

24 infant ubcpfs
18 infant standard ubcpfs (a little larger but not as thick)
8 newborn proraps
6 small proraps
6 snappis
3 AIOs
4 small FBs with inserts
homemade fleece liners
~ 30 wipes
a mix match of doublers
2 pail liners
2 diaper totes

For the next stage, I have 20 FBs with cotton babies inserts.

I'm expecting the babe to be about 8lbs and my last baby chuncked up FAST. Do you think I need some preemie/newborn CPFs?

Please help calm my nerves!

Sounds like plenty to me!
But I am not what you would call a hyena. I will be doing all PFs for this babe. I think 3 doz. PFs sounds good, and while I will probably be getting some preemies I don't think you NEED them, especialy if you have chunkers.

If you're comfortable w/ all prefolds, I would say your stash is plenty. Some mamas have really big stashes to do laundry less often, or just to celebrate their newborn, but the number I've usually seen recommended is 36 newborn diapers. I find that a lot of people like more fitteds or pockets for outtings, overnight, or helpers, but some people do fine w/ mostly prefolds.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

You'll be fine! If your baby has a *really* bad day and you go through 24 prefolds you still have 1/2 a day to wash them before you'll run out again. I think you're all set to wash every other day
As far as covers go I think you're also set there. If you start to run low just hand wash a couple and throw them over the shower curtain rod to dry. They'll be ready in no time

You have way more than I had, and I could wash every third day if I wanted to wait that long! I had 36 infant pfs, 7 covers, and a couple of one-size diapers. The only time I had problems was when she would tinkle while I was trying to change her - sometimes wetting three diapers during the one changing session, lol.

You will be fine!

Oh, and as long as you don't mind folding down the infant size down a little, you shouldn't need the preemie size. My DD started out at almost 9 lbs, but dipped to below 8 lbs for a couple of weeks. I never felt the need for smaller dipes.

You are just fine........

21 years ago when I first became a mama, AIO, pre-folds..did not exist...I just used good old birds eye cloth flats, pre folds and pull on outers( I also made some diapes out of birdseye and old towles)....There was no internet and I wouldn't have had the money to buy all the new items if I had found them.

With dd3, now 11, I did have 4-5 all in ones and some type of covers with velcro.

I would have LOVED to have what you have for my new little one.....

I do know someone who has made simple covers out of fleece. I watched her hand sew one in the two hours we spent together the other night. She made her own pattern, cuts out the fleece. sews elasticg in the legs, back, small place on front and sews on velcro..look easy and they(covers) are soooo cute.

Peace

I posted my newborn/small stash earlier on another thread and looking at it all written down, Iprobably went a little overboard
. But since we don't know what we are having this time around and I can't really shop for clothes, which I normally would, diaper shopping is substituting! Also since, we already have three boys and I feel this is probably our fourth boy, CDing is helping me be excited about this pregnancy which was very unexpected! I now so excited to see this baby and hold a newborn again!! I think your stash looks great

Like pp, I think you are in really good shape! You might have more dipes than I end up having for my baby due in September (still making decisions--I want to have 2 dozen minimum, but might not do more than that--we will have 2 in diapers so I figure we will be doing diaper laundry frequently).

Like you, I am still deciding about whether to get preemie prefolds. My first child was 8 pounds, 6 ounces and gained quickly too. People who I have talked to IRL who CD say preemie pefolds are a joke and not worth the trouble (even a woman who used a diaper service--so she wasn't having to pay extra for them--called up the diaper service when she brought her baby home and had them bring the next size up right away). On the other hand, a lot of people here on the MDC diapering board seem to use them and I figure if I do get them we can use them as doublers when the baby outgrows them. And aren't there a million used for a prefold around the house? Decisions, decisions...

The only thing I'd suggest is a wet bag for out and about. And maybe a few more wipes because you can never have too many wipes (but you can have too few - I've had to be creative a few times). But you sound pretty prepared.

Oh, you don't need preemie cpf's if you have quick-growing babies. They might fit for a week or two depending on how big the babe is, but those prefolds are *so* tiny. However, if you do decide you need to get some, you can use them as inserts in FB's or use them as mama cloth.

Looks good to me
Our amounts are pretty similar. I'm going the fitteds route and planning on about 3 dozen also. So mine will look like~
3 dz small fitteds (there are a few newborns in there, but like you I have big babes who grow fast)
9-10 wool covers, shorts or pants
1 dz AIOs/pockets combined (not a dz of each)
and there's 6 AIOs/pockets that are one-size that Moose will hopefully still fit in when Muffin gets here and they'll share.

There's also 2 dz little (white stitched, infant?) prefolds left from Moose if I need backup, and they'll make good pocket stuffers.

You have more than I started with! And I CD'd full time right from the start.

I really liked preemie prefolds for my DS for the first few months. I usually just laid them in a prorap and they did great. The infant pfs were enormous on him!
