Hi!! Nice to 'meet' you!

No suggestions, but I can give you hope that it won't last forever. Sage went thru that stage as well but now at 13 months I can tell him to wait a minute b/c I have to change his diaper and he will...

Do you cloth diaper?

It's a struggle with my 18 month old each time too. I usually give him something that he only gets at diaper changing time, that works about 80% of the time. The other 20% we suffer through or try and distract him.

Interesting fact though, he only does this for me and DH. If anyone else changes him (his grandma's) he's perfectly fine. Lil' stinker!

I probably don't have any wonderful suggestions... I usually give dd something she usually isn't allowed to play with like the tv remote or phone. I've tried keeping a toy on the changing table that she can only play with during changes. Lately the only thing that works is singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider"??!! Who knows why that works... Sorry I couldn't be more helpful - its nice to read the other posts and know that they get more cooperative!! DD is 8 months old btw

Yes, we've been dealing with this for what seems like forever. Ever since she learned she could roll away!! We usually just try to distract her, while one of us changes her. But, we definately have a lot of naked time around here!!

I did ALOT of diaperchanging as a kid (albiet with sposies) between being the eldest of 6 and my mom running a daycare out of our house. I think I changed more of my youngest bro's diapers than my mom! (she said so!)

The toy idea usually worked well, or a book he could look at the pictures with.
Sometimes just asking him what he did that day...etc etc. worked enough to distract him (altho he was over a year at that point)

The biggest thing I learned that when they are rolling away it becomes a game to them sometimes. It's funny to "escape" and make mommy mad.
So I would let him escape and wouldn't react, then try again after he made a lap or two around the livingroom. in various stages of undress...hhehehe.

Sometimes you just got to let a toddler do what they are bound and determined to do, then they don't want to do it as much! stubborn babies!

I give DD a toy she doesn't usually get - I have a rotation of them. And we've got those little plastic links attached to the changing table. Those are a really good distraction.

When she gets really wiggly and starts rolling all over the place, I find a good old song and dance routine works wonders. The stupider I look, the more fascinated she is. I'm taking advantage of this, because I know when she's 13 she'll think I look stupid ALL the time and it will only be embarrassing, not fascinating.

Welcome to the group! My dd is 8 mos and we're having the same issues. All she wants to do is sit up. I've been trying with a variety of tactics. I try to distract her with something she's not normally allowed to play with (recently it's been a Snappi). I've also tried gently holding her head down and looking right in her eyes and telling her in a calm but stern voice "You have to lay down when you get your diaper changed" - it works occasionally. (Someone here on the board recommended this and I think if I am consistent enough she may eventally lay ****).

I think most of the problem is that she's learned so many new skills recently that she wants to try them out as much as possbile. Good luck

nak Welcome! When we went through this stage, nothing worked. Toys? Ha, hed just toss them aside w/out even looking. What worked for us in the end was popping a video on. he only really likes shakespeare and little people, kept one in the vcr, and hit play. He watch for the few moments, and sing/talk about it. It would take a lot of changes before I had to rewind.
