Hi my dd is almost a year old and we are going to start introducing some dairy into her diet. Is it better to start with plain milk first or dairy products like cheese, or does it matter? Nobody in our family has any intolerance or allergies to dairy, so we are hoping she doesnt either. TIA

I think you should start with a fermented dairy such as youghurt. The reason is that the protein in milk is large, hard to break down. Yougurt's protein is broken down one step already due to the fermentation process thus making it more digestable. Plus it has alot of beneficial bacteria for the digestive system.

There is a thread called the Power of Probiotics that you should check out. It ran for months and its all about the benefits of yougurt.

Make sure you get a reputable brand and its organic...all dairy should be organic.

Hope this helps.
Oh ya make sure that the youghurt has no sugar.

I totally agree - milk is the last dairy product you introduce. Cultured dairy like organic, plain, whole milk yogurt is my choice. Also good is kefir and cottage cheese. Plain milk is actually the hardest to digest of all the dairy products.
