Hi,

I have written some other posts. I wanted to just see what people thought. My DH, if he gets his job, will teach in Belle Plaine, about 45-hour out of iowa city. My DS hates the car seat. We would want to come into town (iowa city) more but it may not happen as much as we would like. We are going to try to live in between work and Iowa city. Would people be willing to drive 20-45 minutes to hang out. Just curious what people think is too far. I would be able to do it sometimes but not as much as I would like! Just wanted to see!

that is good to know! Driving works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't for us.

I grew up in Iowa City and have since moved to Chicago. (And want to move back!!)

In my experience, people were very willing to drive to Cedar Rapids. They were less willing to drive to smaller areas though. I am sure that your friends wouldn't mind once in while coming to see you, but I don't know how often. As I saw it, people who lived outside of IC tended to do a lot more driving in. Even those that lived in the farmland, Kalona, Tiffin areas.

Of course, it just depends on your friends and the circumstances. Also, where they are from and how much driving they are used to. For example, someone from Chicago is much more willing to drive 45 min to an hour to get somewhere than some from IC is. At least that has been my experience.
