It will be on the Urumiyeh lake in Western Azerbaijan province, a municipality official identified only as Aghai said.

Under Iran's strict Islamic law, mixing with men in public is forbidden. Strict sex segregation actually protects women rather than restricting their rights, officials argue.

"There will be no men on the Arezou (Wish) island. Public transport, restaurants and other facilities will be staffed only by women," Aghai said.

I think Iran tries to do a lot to at least give women opportunities, given Islamic moral codes regarding women, that other Muslim countries do not. Women-only parks, beaches, sports days, etc... these, sadly, aren't the norm in the rest of the Muslim world where women are still expected to be segregated.

I mean think about it...you wouldn't have to shave ANYTHING...
...you could just let it alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll hang out. Man, that would be sweet. I'd go there for a mommy's weekend away with my girlfriends in a minute.

Am remembering reading somewhere that Egypt has one, too. Not on an island, but a whole resort that's women-only.

We've got a few stray beaches here that have separate hours for men and women, but it's just not the same.
Am envious. Sigh.

Seriously? I would never let it all hang out... hairy or not. Women can be just as critical as men, they would be making fun of everyone's differences and who shaved and who didn't and who should have ironed their sarong and who needed to cut their hair and who was fake baking.

They are gonna freak out when the LPGA takes the place over.
Mmmmmm. I'd sooo go to the beach. Scars, hairy legs, and all. I'm just not as insanely shy among women. I don't think it's primarily about sexual attraction or a lack of it or criticism or the lack of it. I'm just more comfortable in less clothing than normal among women.

Yeah, women are catty, BUT...they are more prone to increased cattiness when there are males around who's opinions they care about. A buncha chicks hanging out....I'd leave my razor at home. Woohoo!!

ETA: um, what's an Olivia cruise?
