: Up until 2 weeks ago my ds, 20 months old, was taking a much needed daily nap at noon for 2.5 -3 hours. He needed it, and his older sister and I needed it as well. Then, out of the blue, he stopped. He's taken about 3 naps in the last 2 weeks and the afternoons are LOOOOONNNGGG now. He is tired and by 4ish would take a nap, but I push him until 6:30 at least so that he's not up until midnight after a late nap. So, I'm thinking that he still needs a nap, but for some reason is resisting. Most days we still go upstairs to nurse at noonish, and he seems ready to drop off, but doesn't. We co-sleep so he has complete freedom to get out of bed when he deems it time. Any thoughts on ways to accept our new schedule? Or possibly change it back??? (I'm dreaming of the long periods of time I could spend with my daughter, I miss that!!)

Hi there. I had the same thing happy with my dd 27 months now and I know this sounds mean but I would put her in her room with a book or just some relaxing music and tell her to lay down and go night night. Normally that would work but if it didn't I made it clear to her that she was to take a nap. I have even gone so far in allowing her to go to bed early so that the next day she is so dog tired around her nap time that she's ready to take one and until she's gotten used to that schedule then that's what we had to do for at least a week or two. Hope this helps out.

My 26 month old was doing the same. But what I did was try to remain consistent, going down for nap time every day no matter what. I would tell her she can lay down and read quietly, but it is quiet time. After a few days of only reading for 30 minutes she got back on her nap schedule. I'm sure every child is different in regards to how much sleep they need, but I know my dd needs her nap.
Good luck!

DD is kind of the same way. She takes about a two hour nap, but it is always a battle (which I hate) to get her down for it. And then she's up until about 10:30 at night anyways. I would looove it if she would skip the nap and go to bed earlier, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen any time soon.
