Surely I'm not the only one left??

I went to my prenatal with my midwife today. We discussed some natural induction options to help move things along, but she said that she'd recommend a VE first to see if I was ripe, otherwise we could try all we wanted and it probably wouldn't work. The two things we talked about was nipple stimulation with the breast pump and castor oil.

Here's the update: I'm measuring 43 weeks. I'm fully effaced and 2 cm dilated. She can feel the baby's head down low, so that's good. We also talked about reducing any stress to help my body go into labor. Does anyone want two kids for a few days?

I'm glad to see some progress, even if only a little bit. We also joked about the full moon coming up tomorrow and that we'd take anything that might work! So today I'm giving the nipple stimulation a try, and if doesn't work I'll move on to castor oil. Sooo looking forward to that

Yep - I'm still here.

I had a midwife appt. yesterday. Everything is fine - the baby just doesn't appear to be ready (his head is still pretty high up). His heartbeat and my blood pressure/urine testing are all fine. She offered to strip membranes, but we decided, if anything, we would try cohosh and primrose first. As long as baby is healthy and content, he's probably right where he ought to be...

Although I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired of all of the numbskull comments I get from people: "you're still here???!!!" "Hey! I thought I'd come home from vacation to a baby!" (Yeah? Well why don't you get pregnant and do this for 9.5 months, then?) And, of course, the induction questions were ridiculous when I was being asked about that days before my due date. Now that I'm a week and a half over, people insinuate that I'm irresponsible to not be considering it right now. They are lucky if they don't get my speech on the dangers of unnecessary induction and what is best for the baby. So, while my frame of mind is okay here at the house - I should probably be kept away from other humans!

Hang in there guys. Your babies know what they are doing & will come out when they are ready. Just enjoy your pregnancies. My baby is only 4 days old & already I want to put him back
Not that he isn't wonderful, but I am so exhausted! Stay away from all those negative people who know nothing about giving birth. I can't wait to hear that you are holding your babies in your arms!

On freecycle there are some givers that get a bunch of replies and pick and choose who really needs what they are giving away.

So which of us needs labor the most ?

At my mw appt on Tuesday, we discussed what, if anything, I wanted to try to help things along. We decided to go ahead with a VE to see if I was ripe or not, otherwise whatever we tried wouldn't work. So I was fully effaced and 2 cm then. We decided to try the nipple stimulation and castor oil. I took the castor oil on Wednesday once, then twice on Thursday. I got a thorough bowel cleansing, but honestly I've had diarrhea that was worse than that before. The nipple stimulation has been hit or miss. It's not too practical sitting for 15 minutes every hour with two other children to care for. So this evening, when my contractions are more active, I'm going to try the nipple stim again. We've been out walking ALL day. Walked in Target about an hour, the mall for over two hours, and one other small dept store. Thankfully we didn't buy anything except at Target!

There is a question about my dates as they are based on an early u/s, so I may not be as "overdue" as it feels! There's definitely something psychological that happens when you pass that EDD, even if logically you know it's an educated guess. Plus, this is my first experience with this. Ds came at 38 weeks, and dd four days before the due date.

ETA: We did have a pretty stressful week last week when I tried these things. Dh was reminded about some out of town training at the end of August...well, when he looked up the schedule it was supposed to be MID-august not the end! He was going to have to go out of town for two weeks on the 21st. I was pretty freaked out at the possibility of having three kids 2 weeks pp. Plus, my ds is starting kindergarten that same week he was leaving. It's all fine now...he switched with another co-worker to go at the end of Sept, but I was seriously stressed on the first day of castor oil.
