I have been swaddling dd since she was born simply beacuse her arms and legs move so much that it kept her awake and excited instead of sleeping. I continue to swaddle her but is it ok?? It is not a tight swaddle a loose one and she usually breaks out of it by morning. Input from other mommas??

My DD is 14 months and still likes to be swaddled. It's loose, and she is out of it the first time she rolls over, but she likes it to go to sleep. I was thinking about it the other day and realized that I wrap the blankets tightly around myself to go to sleep, on the odd occasion that I have the bed to myself that is.

I don't worry about it. When she wants to quit, she'll let me know.

If she likes it why not?! My kiddos both hated having their arms swaddled- I think it's awesome that she'll still do it!

We still swaddle my 6 month old...like yours she needs it to fall asleep. Otherwise, it's flailing, trying to crawl, the works. She's out of it by the middle of night, but it's crucial for getting her down for the first stretch.

I say go for it!

I agree, go for it...babies are pretty good at telling you when they are done with something!
Both my dds were swaddled until 9+ months.

The only way we could get my toddler to sleep tillhe was about 20 months old was to swaddle him snug in a fleece Old Navy blanket and snuggle with him and sing till he fell asleep. It was a thing his dad started with him and I figure if it aint broke.........KWIM?

we've recently revisited swaddling with ds thrashing in his sleep. works well sometimes, not others. i say do whatever non-narcotics you need to do to help them sleep .
