Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know how safe sodium ascorbate is to take during pregnancy? How much to take at one time while preggo? This pregnancy has really zapped me and my immune system is suffering. I've got cold and sinus issues going on (and on, and on...) and refuse to take any otc or rx meds.

Among other things, I cannot get down one more clove of garlic!

Any help would be really appreciated!
TIA

Dr Klinner used SA for his pregnant patients.

They had very healthy pregnancies and babies.

You could do a google for him.

The only research on women that shows vitamin C could cause miscarriages, was done in Russia by E.P. Samborskaia (1964). The research was done on 24 women ages 20 to 40 who had requested abortions. Sixeen of the 24 women started menstruation one to three days after taking the ascorbic acid. There was no effect on four of the women.

According to Irwin Stone in his book The Healing Factor. Vitamin C Against Disease. The women appear to have been given 6 gms of ascorbic acid every 24 hours for a three day time period. Samborskaia's conculsion was the ascorbic acid increases the level of estrogens, which provoke's miscarriage.

However, Stone writes:

Quote:

Samborskaia's work on abortion seems particularly suspicious when viewed in the light of Klenner's results, reported in 1971, on megascorbic prophylaxis in over 300 human pregnancies. His patients were given orally, throughout their pregnancies, from 4 grams to 15 grams of ascorbic acid a dapy on approximately the following schedule 4 grams daily in the first trimester, 6 grams daily in the second trimester and 10 grams daily during the last trimester.

There were no miscarriages. Klenner also reported labor was shorter, less painful, and uncomplicated.

Irwin Stone's book is online and you can read the fully chapter on pregnancy here:

http://vitamincfoundation.org/stone/Chapt26.htm#C28

Personally I would do SA in this crisis but rely on natural vitamin C such as acerola or amla for long term daily use.

Make sure you also take bioflavonoids at 1/5th ratio with your SA.
