if it's my boobies that itch and not the actual nipples? : Just started itching a lot in the last couple days. I haven't gotten a good look at the inside of DD's mouth, but I notice that her tongue does look like it has white on it sometimes....but I just thought that was because all she does is drink milk all day. What are the unmistakable tell-tale signs of thrush?

Sorry, I'm new at this. :

I'm pretty sure a white-coated tongue is normal for a breastfed infant...both my babies have had it and my midwife says it's normal.

Last week my boobs (not nipples, like you described) itched like a mother for like 3 days straight, then as soon as it started it went away. As far as I could tell, I was drinking enough, eating enough, airing them out after feedings enough...not using any new products in the laundry or on my skin...so wierd, but it wasn't thrush.

I'm no help probably but felt like I should post

Well, the thing about thrush is there are plenty of possible signs but they can come and go in mom and baby.

This is a good resource for symptoms -

http://breastfeeding.hypermart.net/thrush.html

Sorry you others are experiencing this, but it's good to know I'm not the only one. I took probiotics throughout the pregnancy and have continued to take them, so I'm hoping that's protecting us somewhat......although, I've eaten a lot more sweets than usual in the last few weeks, which I know is not good. Shame on me! : Maybe I just have dry skin or something.

I had a lot of non-nipple itching, and that was from stretching skin due to increase in breast size.
Try cocoa butter or a mustela anti-stretch mark product or Lanacaine for intense itching, but wash it off well before nursing!
