Technically, he's not, but I'm wondering if BF Mom's expect babies to be chubbier.....My ds was 7.15 at birth; he is now 15 wks and is 13.15. On the charts he's maintained the 50th percentile curve and kellymom.com shows he's gained 6.4 ozs per week which he should get 5-7 ozs so he's right on target.
However, my LC said he should be gaining more weight and I've had other Mom's who BF say he's small. I've also noticed a couple posts on here where the poster has said their baby is skinny, that their ped said their babe was skinny, but when you look at the charts they're not at all! Do BF mamas expect their babes to be super chunky in the first 6 mo's?
Should I be stressing about this? I am super sensitive since ds #1 had major weight gain problems from 6-14 mo's and I don't want that to happen again.
TIA!

IMO every child is different. DH as a baby grew up then out, so he always looked more tall and skinny. I always grew out then up, so I was short and fat most of the time. (ETA: and we were both BFed babies!) LOL. Our son had a triple chin practically - LOL. But our next may be completely different. As long as he is active, healthy looking, engaging, and having enough wet/poopy diapers and gaining, then I would relax a little and give yourself a pat on the back!

I don't think he's skinny. I think he sounds normal. DS is 5m3w and he is 14.5lbs as of today. He was 7.9 at birth but dropped down a lot lower due to latch issues.

Don't stress. Really.
There is a HUGE variance of what is normal according to weight. My best friend has a DD 10 days older than my DS. She outweighs him by a LOT, and always did. Both EBF. And my son is way ahead of her in terms of motor skills. Both babies are well within normal.

My DS is skinny and long and VERY active. A kid with his body type and activity level won't get chubby. He burns his calories.

If you're baby is steadily growing (you know because clothes stop fitting and the kid gets heavy ) and he is meeting his milestones.... if he appears to be totally on track except for the stupid chart.... toss out the stupid chart! You kiddo is fine.

No, I don't think he's skinny. Now my 14 lb 6 mo is skinny and looks tiny compared to other 6 mo olds. She's healthy, active and growing. She was born 7.5 lbs at 42 weeks so I'm guessing she's gonna be like her momma was as a child long and skinny.

It really irks me when people say stuff about babies being too skinny- esp when they're in the 50th or 25th or whatever percentile. Sheesh. Someone's gotta be there!
DD was BF for a very short time and then FF. She was always in the 95th. DS was always BF and has gone all over the place, but never over 50 :)
