Ok, I just started my very first sourdough starter 2 days ago. I put one cup of water(filtered from fridge) and 1 cup of WW flour. Put it in a mason jar and covered it with cheese cloth. Yesterday it had a layer of brown liquid on the surface- which I think I remember seeing is normal. I threw out half of it and added 1/2 cup ww flour and 1/2 cup water. Stirred with a wooden spoon. This morning when I woke up- it had like tripled in size and had about 1 inch of cloudy water on the bottom on the jar. It has since delfated and I just fed it again. But it smells so horrible- not at all like a pleasant beery smell- more like a pukey barfy smell:puke . Is this normal? When should I transfer it to the fridge? Thanks mamas!
