Grandparents babysat this weekend and fed DS Yo Baby, which he LOVED. DH and my concern is that the second ingredient is sugar. We tried feeding him plain yogurt, but he was not happy at all, even after adding fruit. So now we are considering adding stevia and some fresh fruit. Is stevia safe at this age?

I was talking to my dad about stevia a few weeks ago, and he had just researched its safety. He told me that scientists in the EU (sorry, I don't have a link to the study) found that it was generally safe, except in large doses for male rats of reproductive age. I guess it messed with the poor rats' sperm.

So, for a baby, I don't know....Personally, I'd try and avoid lots of it. But a little probably wouldn't hurt. Have you tried agave nectar. That works really well - it is better for you than sugar, and tastes great. It's liquid, so it would mix well with yogurt.
