I once had a little old lady come up to me and ask me to lift the blanket I was covered with at the time (this was in my very first days of breastfeeding) so she could see Bobbie nurse. I don't, honestly, find it any odder that a man would do the same, though it's certainly unusual. Chances are he had a nursing wife.

I might feel uncomfortable, but then I often hear BFing mom complain that no one will even look at them or acknowlege them while they are nursing a babe. Can't have it both ways. Plus, don't you find it difficult to look away from something you find very beautiful?

I can see how someone might interpret the comment as offensive, but if he had said it to me, I would likely have laughed. He acknowledged that you were nursing, and in my opinion, in a lighthearted way. It sounds like something my husband would have said, actually!

I have trouble not staring at other nursing dyads because it is just SO AWESOME. I get the fascination. I bet he meant well. It's reasonable that it made you uncomfortable though.
