Is that a $5 or $7 meal

So I was flying from DCA to PHX yesterday and this 45-50ish man is sitting across the aisle from DD andmyself. She nurses most through flights. Anyway, after the first time I 'noticibly nurse' he leans across the aisle and said "is that the $5 or $7 meal." I laughed and wasn't offended until about a half hour later. I swear he was trying to sneak peaks the rest of the flight. Ugh

What's the quote from The Simpsons -- something like, A breastfeeding mother is like the sun. It's a beautiful thing, but you should never look directly at it

i would laugh and say "it is $10!"
Honestly, it's probably nothing to be offended over. What's to say he wasn't sneaking peeks at the cute baby? I once had a little old lady come up to me and ask me to lift the blanket I was covered with at the time (this was in my very first days of breastfeeding) so she could see Bobbie nurse. I don't, honestly, find it any odder that a man would do the same, though it's certainly unusual. Chances are he had a nursing wife.
I might feel uncomfortable, but then I often hear BFing mom complain that no one will even look at them or acknowlege them while they are nursing a babe. Can't have it both ways. Plus, don't you find it difficult to look away from something you find very beautiful?
why be offended? he didn't say anything negative and i think it was funny myself.

bfers want to be accepted and normalized, no? i can see the same comment towards a ffed baby too.

so not a big deal.
I can see how someone might interpret the comment as offensive, but if he had said it to me, I would likely have laughed. He acknowledged that you were nursing, and in my opinion, in a lighthearted way. It sounds like something my husband would have said, actually!
I have trouble not staring at other nursing dyads because it is just SO AWESOME. I get the fascination. I bet he meant well. It's reasonable that it made you uncomfortable though.

I agree. It is just such a beautiful thing, and when I see another nursing mother I can't help but stare and smile.

The comment did make me chuckle a bit...

"An eclipse is like a woman breastfeeding: it's natural, it's beautiful, but for God's sake don't look directly at it!" lol I laughed hysterically when I first saw that episode, I had to pause it because I couldn't hear the next line. Love it!
