Hi, I'm not sure where to find this answer, but thought I would ask here and see if any of you knew where to find this info.

Is there a website where I can find what the public schools teach in each grade? Ok, I might not be explaining myself very well. What I'm looking for is something that says say for instance by the end of grade 1 the child should know how to count to 100, know how to spell simple words, know all the 50 states, etc. (not that I'm saying a 1st grader would really know those things, they were just hypothetical statements) . I would like to have some goals to work for through our school year, and just wanted to have an idea what they were teaching in the public schools. I have a 1st and 2nd grader. We will go our own way and at our own pace, but I dont' want to challenge them too much or too little.

Thanks much!! Sara

world book encyclopedia is definitely a good source, and i also like the Core Knowledge sequence book, or their series "what your _grader needs to know"
