Ok, Ok, i know they are "good" for your yard and whatnot, but i absolutely can not stand them! I dont think they should die or anything, but they are everywhere! Little grass snakes.

Im one of those people that sees an earthworm and starts screaming because i think its a snake....its not a pretty sight.

I was in my yard, and i went to pick up a stepping stone that was lying against the wall of the house and i picked it up and there where like 4 under the first one i picked up!!! Then there was one in my house the other day, that is totally unexceptionable to me.

Ok, so any advice? Is there a way to get rid of them? Can i get like a mongoose or something? LOL j/k....but is there something i can do to not like my yard?

I dislike snakes too, although worms don't send shivers down my spine.

My solution has always been that whenever I find a snake in the area around the house or garden - to have hubby come catch it, and relocate it further from the house. Okay so he might have only moved it 20-50 feet, I know it's totally in my head because a snakes range can be pretty far and that a snake can get through a welded wire fence but as long as he told me he "removed" it, I was happy. I have forced myself into thinking the band-aid on the bruised knee actually make it feels better.

Snakes love hiding places, so one thing you can do is remove the hiding places. So keep your plants well pruned, grass cut short, and do NOT lean anything against the side of the house (or if you do, make someone else pick it up!) A good cat can help, if you're a pet person. I've heard the bird statues help, since birds eat snakes (think hawk, owl...) but I'm not so sure. Good luck!

Guinea fowl are good at keeping snakes away. They are easy to keep "wild" too..
