I'm just curious for my own curiosity's sake<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>
I am wondering how do I find out what level my son is reading at.

Well, it's not exactly easy, but you can use this link to calculate the reading level of a book. I think it's pretty good and have used it several times.<br><br><a href="http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/fry/fry.pdf" target="_blank">http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/fry/fry.pdf</a>

Open up to a page in a book. Have him/her read it aloud. If your child makes more than 5 errors - the book is probably too complex for him/her.<br><br>

we had some fun with this. I don't know about accurately assesing reading levels but it did alert us that my middle child needed glasses. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

You can enter a title or author here. Then, use the Benchmark Targets link to identify grade level.<br><br><a href="http://registration.beavton.k12.or.us/lbdb/" target="_blank">http://registration.beavton.k12.or.us/lbdb/</a>

Thanks for the tips<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
I was wondering because he is moving into level 3 easy readers. I noticed the Level 2 readers are wildly different. Some super easy some quite a bit more to read.<br><br>
So I was wondering if there is a sort of standard<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>
Thanks again
