I am not happy using plastic sippy cups for my son, but I got a sigg and it leaks everywhere if tipped over and I regret paying all the $ for it. I use a very sturdy glass milk bottle (embarrased - can't remember the company's name, but I think its pretty common something family farms?) anyway, they have great glass bottles that we reuse for water bottles for grown ups. I'm just thinking it would be so fantastic if there was some kind of sippy lid you could buy that could just be screwed on to a stury glass bottle? Any such thing?

Now that I look at it in your link, maybe we actually have a kleen kanteen, b/c ours looks exactly like that (not home to check), So I wonder what is wrong with ours? Whenever it tips over it just drip drip drips out of the spout. I am so annoyed!

Do you have a pic or a link to the glass bottle you're currently using? I remember OneStepAhead (I'm pretty sure it was them) sold sippy and pop-up tops to put on your own bottles so you could reuse/adapt them. Is the problem more with the KK or Sigg sippy top or with the bottle itself, i.e. how are the leaks occurring?

Glass is not really a very safe option long-term (how old is your LO? At sippy cup age, I would have really worried about my kiddos tossing and accidentally breaking a glass bottle), plus it can be fairly heavy for little ones compared to the aluminum options.

As long we're discussing our enviro- and functionality-friendly child cup dream list, lol, I'm waiting for someone to come out with an aluminum STRAW cup that doesn't leak and is durable -- my 3 yo DD has special needs and the sippy cup design is bad for her already poor oral motor skills, so we need a straw cup design!

If you indeed have a Klean Kanteen sippy - the spouts have a round silicone disc inside to make the sippy function work. This disc is slightly curved in one direction. When it is being put back in after washing it needs to curve towards the plastic sippy spout piece. If this piece is missing or put in backwards it will leak.
If you are not using a KLean kanteen you may want to try them. We love ours and have no problems. Never heard of anything for glass! Though glass is absolutely the healthiest option.
For straw cups do a search for Foogo brand. They have a good sippy style straw cup people seem to like. It is stainless steel, not aluminum. Aluminum is linked to Alzhiemers and therefore not a desirable option....

They fit right on a standard size bottle. I buy them at Babies R Us. I've also ordered from the site I linked to, and I was very happy with them.
We've been using thses with my now 3 year old for about a year. This is pretty much the olny thing he drinks from. We've used them at home, at night and while travelling. We've only had one break when he dropped it in a parking lot, but I think that was a bit of a fluke.

Thanks for the tips everybody, I have been having a crazy hectic work couple-of-weeks and keep forgetting to check which stainless sippy we have, but I am almost 100% sure it is a kleen kanteen. I will check the part that was mentioned, maybe we just have it put together wrong. I will also check into some of those attachments a couple of you mentioned. Thanks for giving me so much to work with! Now if I could just work with it.....

You know, the more I think about it, I really think we are just using the ol' sippy cup as a crutch anyway - ds is 3 years old, he's out of diapers, and well that was kind of a leap of faith (we just went cold turkey to underwear, had a couple messy weeks and are doing great now) so I'm thinking we might just cold turkey this one - get him some cheap (i.e. its OK if they break) juice glasses and a nice thick stury bottle with regular lid (reuse a grocery store brand or something) for the car and go with it, fly by the seat of our pants if you will. I have faith in him to rise to the occasion, he has so far!

We also has a foogo that only leaks if DS very agressively bangs it- and even then it is just tiny droplets.

I love that milk is good in it for something like 6 or 8 hours. So helpful on car trips and such!

Thanks for posting this thread. I've been looking into getting travel water bottles/sippy cups for the kids. DD would be fine with a straw type bottle or one that she unscrews the lid. DS is a very messy drinker and usually spits most of the water he drinks through a straw. So I've been thinking about finding a sippy for him.
