(How many times has that been the title of a thread?)

Anyway, I haven't paid much attention to my ds's penis. He's almost 6 and I rarely see it. But yesterday, I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and he was explaining to his little brother how to use the toilet (it's SO darn cute to see them together!) and I looked over and saw that his foreskin looks like it's fused to his glans. He was forcibly retracted by a ped when he was 13 months old. And going against her instructions, I never retracted it until he was much older and complained that his penis was burning, so I retracted it and rinsed it off w/ water. Since then, he learned to retract it himself and swishes it during every bath (if he doesn't, it starts to burn after a few days. I think he gets urine built up under there or soemthing) and he retracts it to pee, usually. I try to get him to, bc he pees all over the place when he doesn't. LOL!

Anyway, is it normal that his foreskin looks fused to his glans, above where the ridge is? Is this bad, caused by scarring from his forced retraction or is it normal and it will fully separate eventually? Thanks!

There is no way to know when the normal adhesions will disolve. It is possible that he will be in his late teens before they all resolve. If there was no bleeding when the pediatrician retracted him, it is very unlikely that there are any adhesions caused by scar tissue. It's certainly not time to start worrying for a 5 year old. There are many moms here who have older boys who still have normal adhesions whether they were retracted or not.

He did bleed when she retracted him and that's why I've always been so worried about scar tissue. But at the same time, I don't feel comfortable retracting him to check it out (seems too private, I guess), so I don't know if he had scarring or not. Thanks for your reassurance. He's probably fine. He's never complained about it.

If it still bugs him past puberty he can gently stretch it and use betamethasone cream if stretching alone doesn't resolve it fast enough for him - it helps thin out scar tissue.

I mean if he even has scar tissue and it's not just regulation penis behavior. And if the transformation from boy to man doesn't take care of it
