My friend posted this up on myspace bullitens and I have decided that I would call her out on it because I think its racist.

I decided that If I don't call it out when I see it, I am participating in it.

(Thanks guys : )

Do you think it's racist? I don't like the tone of it. Maybe not racist but definatly derrogatory to athiests and muslims. I see it as intollerant and thats just crappy and doesnt make her political party look very good.

She said a black friend sent it to her.

Who is Barack Obama?

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your
choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all
your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us
here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it.

We checked this out on "snopes.com". It is factual. Check for yourself.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His
mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.
When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is
quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also
attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this
influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential
candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!!

Hell yes its racist. I got the same thing and I basically told the person that sent it to me that I was totally ok with everyone having their own opinions, however I don't want trash like that sent my way and that if she really feels that way then maybe we don't need to be friends.

Isn't that a yucky thing to get?!

it's not just that it's racist...it's focusing on matters that don't have a single thing to do with being a good president.

I think the point being made is that if he is muslim, he is a terrorist. : :

why is it, that in this day and age...we can't judge each person for their actual actions? muslim does NOT equate to terrorist.

I agree.

I am totally calling her out. I don't like to start stuff with people but I am feeling more and more like "Well behaved women rarely make history."

What am I teaching my children if I just *let* people act like that?

I thinks it's not nice, but I don't think it's racist, precisely. I guess it's religionist?

Actually, though, I'm 99% positive the part about the flag/pledge stuff is true. I saw an interview not that long ago where someone asked him about it. As I recall, he said he was "making a statement" or something like that about how people SAY they're loyal/support the troops, but really don't.
Personally, I was appalled. But then, that's probably because I'm a veteran and I don't think his actions make any kind of positive statement, and certainly not to the troops.
I can understand not saying the pledge of allegiance if it's against your religion, but... the way he defended it just... rubs me the wrong way, I guess.

You're thinking about him choosinnot to wear a flag lapel pin. He said he'd rather have his patriotism judged by his actions and not by his choice to wear a flag, and that he'd rather no be included in with some of the people who claimed patriotism (demonstrated by the pin) but did things he found to be decidedly unpatriotic.

In any case - racist/religionist? yes. also false? yes again.

Just another 'his religion isn't the point' post:

I told my husband about this 'article'. We're Canadian, but he tends to follow politics. His first comment was that Bush (clearly *not* Muslim) is doing a good enough job of destroying the country from within. I hadn't heard comments to that effect, he explained that the 'war on terror', with its lack of results, has tanked the US economy.

I don't know if I explained myself clearly - I hope so! My point is basically that it should have nothing to do with religion.

yeah, I thought that was *funny* that the forward would reference snopes, when snopes disproves it! Maybe they figured if they put that in there people would "trust" it more and not check for themselves.

You know, at my church I overheard people discussing the election. One person said something that they heard a lady prophesizing (sp) that our next president will be a woman. And then someone spoke up and said something like "well, could you imagine if we got a Muslim?

I wasn't involved in the conversation and I didn't speak up. Then I felt bad for not butting it.

So I already have my mind made up to call these people out on their claims in church tomorrow, if I over hear it or it is brought up. I haven't quite figured out what am I going to say or how I am going to say it...but I'm not going to keep quiet. And I don't really care what sort of fuss I cause because I'm leaving the church in 2 weeks to move.

I want to say something like (when they say about "a Muslim") "Oh, which candidate is Muslim?" Then say "No, actually he is NOT a Muslim, he is a Christian" and be armed with 'facts'. Then if they try to say he is "just pretending" I want to say something about "How would that make you feel if someone said YOU WERE PRETENDING. TRUE CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT JUDGE OTHERS!" Or SOMETHING!!!

I, personally, would not NOT vote for someone on their race, religion, what have you. But I need to say something to these "Christians" who only want a Christian leader...if I challenge them on the base of you should vote on issues, not religion, it will fall on deaf ears so to speak.
