I got two kids, 2 and 4, and I would like to get over the chicken pox thing. If anyone has it or knows someone who has it, can you please post here? Thanks!

P.S. Read through the threads and saw that I missed one in Oconomowoc - Nooo! That's like 10 min away from me - I live in Watertown, WI.

I have a fellow freecycler who is working with about 10 other families from MAdison to Rockford IL to try and find chicken pox.
She also gave me a heads up that adults who hae singles can often give kids pox so if you know anyone wo has singles try and infect (LOL) our kids

Wow! I can't believe that I was just thinking about this and that I should look on the mothering boards to see if there's a thread. AND HERE IT IS!

Anyway, I'm in Madison and am interested in finding the chickenpox for my 2 1/2 y.o. Hehe, it sounds like I'm looking for a Christmas present! Last year we could have exposed him, but it was right before the holidays, so we decided against it.

Hey, We're on a mission to track down & bring pox ot WI.

I found a yahoo! group based out of Chicago that is specifically to keep parents in the loop for finding & exposing their kids. Would someone like to create a similar group for the WI area? That way when someone gets the pox we can jump on the chance to expose each other. I know that not everyone can get to Mothering daily & the congagious window is fairly narrow as far as these things go.

I really appreciate that so many are interested in finding the pox. (Why does that sound so twisted?) It sounds like we'll definitely be able to find it with so many looking! Anyway, I'm interested to learn more about that "narrow window" and when to time exposure. Anyone have any links?

Thanx Carrie. I can always count on you

I think including the link here & encouraging everyone to link everyone they know that is also looking as well will be enough. I've also joined the group in Chicago that I found & shared the link with both the LCAP girls & the Chicago Hipmama's as well. I'll forward the WI group link to the girls in JVAPI & on Amity as well and maybe to the girls in Rockford in case any of them find it. Word of mouth should spread this pretty well.

The Jan/Feb 2004 Mothering as more info on Pox than I could repost here. Here's a quick blerb

The incubation period of chickenpox is usually 14 to 16 days, although some cases occur as early as 10 or as late as 21 days after exposure. Chickenpox is contagious beginning two days before the rash appears, and is most infectious from 12 to 24 hours before the rash is recognized. Contagion lasts as long as 5 days after the onset of lesions, until lesions cease to erupt and have crusted.

Heres to contagious kids.

I've got a friend in Chicago who's youngest just finished (naturally before I knew about it ) but there is a chance that they managed to pass it on to one of the other families. If they do get them I'll be bringing them to WI for sure. I'll announce to the yahoo group for sure & here if I remember.
