Everyone needs multiple car seats over his/her lifetime it seems and these big hunks of plastic just go to the landfill.

Does anyone know are any companies working on making them recyclable?

Thanks.

The only method of recycling I have come up with is giving a good seat away or passing it down to the next child. Also, if I have another child I will be borrowing a baby bucket until my child is big enough for either a Radian or Britax rear facing. That should only be about 3 months in my house. This way I want have to get several seats, just one until booster seat age.

There are other uses for seats as well. One family I know takes old seats with them when they go to the theater and uses them to help their kids see better. Another uses an old seat as a "safe place" for their child with Autism.
I use old seats when giving presentations to moms' groups and healthcare workers. Becausse they're not used for children, only for demonstrating strap tightness, ect, they're perfect both for my budget and for the family who just can't bring themselves to throw away a seat.
