you are all probably sick of reading about my ds's fleece allergy - well, last laundry day i decided to switch detergents to wash ds's dipes based on someone's post. i has switched to tide free and clear (i think thats the name) before. this time i used regular old kirkland brand from costco. when i was putting the dipes away i decided to rotate my stash and i used the ones that were on the bottom of the pile. these were ones washed in the tide. well, i put one on ds, he nursed and pooped - all in 10 minutes so i changed him and bam - he was all red already!!!!! definitely the detergent!!!!!!!!!!!!! they were regular old bcpfs!!!!!

anyone else have a reaction to free and clear stuff - or tide in general? i'm just wondering.

elementary my dear watson. i have solved the case!!!!

Tide seems to give a lot of people a reaction, even the Free and Clear. I think it's really strong and maybe doesn't all rinse out as well. But it does a good job cleaning.
I don't have a problem with very small amounts of Tide after my diapers are well broken in, but I've notice for the SECOND time that while washing NEW prefolds with it, it really stays in the diapers. (You can smell the tide in the warm pee after they go.) It really burns my little guy bad. Even though I used very little. I'm going to have to wash them several times to get the residue out.

I LOVE Kirkland brand detergent...I tried to switch detergents a few months ago and ended up with a HUGE smell problem. It was resolved within 3 washes of going back to Kirkland.
