No, we didn't have an u/s - but we FINALLY heard the h/b today!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/jumpers.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="jumpers">: I am so excited to finally hear my sweet baby! I'm 16+1 today and we tried at 11 and 13 weeks with no success. Today my mw came over and palpated and said I feel VERY pregnant! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> I think so, too, but it's SO nice to hear someone else say it! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> After a minute or two she found the heartbeat, waaay up high where I think this baby wants to stay! I keep feeling bulges up at the top of my uterus (which is surpassing my navel!) and now I know I'm not crazy!<br><br>
The baby's heartrate was 156 and while it was a little obscured on the doppler she said it was nice and strong and we listened for a good while. My boys were jumping up and down! The baby also kicked several times! Talk about strong! Those were quite obvious and loud kicks from what my mw said is a very active baby. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"><br><br>
I haven't felt much in addition to the lack of hearing a hb - and we're pretty sure the placenta is anterior with all of that. We'll schedule an u/s to check on the baby for another 4 weeks or so from now. I can't wait!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
DH has given me permission to go buy something for my new baby! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> Last time we had the experience of hearing the heartbeat for the first time was a really traumatic day (was told I was risked out of my homebirth and going to be a very high risk pgcy), so to make sure I still celebrated, I bought my baby a sweet duck and blanket set at the place we stopped for lunch. Now there's not the sorrow of that day (and I DID have my homebirth anyway!) but I again feel the need to celebrate the baby. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
So kids are napping, DH is working, and I'm off to shop!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

Heather I'm so happy for you. I know it was a real relief and I wanted to tell you earlier I was impressed that you were handling not hearing the hb like a trooper, but I didn't want to add any stress... anyway, great job trusting in your body and congrats again!

Thanks, mamas!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> It really is awesome to finally KNOW that there really is a healthy baby! I told my DH that I always knew everything was fine, but that didn't mean I didn't worry! He doesn't quite get that, but surely mamas do! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
I bought the baby a super soft and silky white lovey/security blanket by Little Giraffe. I actually gave my Sept baby one for his first Christmas (a green one and it's a little different) but it was the only thing I really liked (that wasn't $$$$$!!) for this one! And I was even well behaved and avoided all of the pink, 'cause this is to celebrate this baby - whatever it is! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love">

YAY! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> I am so happy for you. I was actually just thinking about this the other day and hoping that you could hear something soon!<br><br>
My placenta is anterior too and we've just gotten to the point where we can hear a good heartbeat and not just blood flow. So I totally understand the frustration. Congrats! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love">

Congratulations Heather! That is so exciting. We haven't heard the heartbeat yet, but lots of bumps and bubbles! I think I will go to see a mw at 20 weeks to hear. Fun!

YAYYY!!! I've read your other posts, and I've been thinking of you, and I'm so happy to hear that your baby is giving you all the signs that will set your mind at ease. I wish you, your new baby, and your whole family the very best.

That's awesome, Heather. I'd like to celebrate with you, if I may! I went for checkup on Wed. and I heard the heartbeat at 162. I actually had an ultrasound last month and saw/heard it then, too....but I have no symptoms STILL (except headaches) so I am always thinking the worst. I'm starting to relax.

<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/grouphug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="grouphug"> Thanks again for all of the support, mamas!! It means so much! It definitely has helped to have people to talk to while waiting through this. I feel so much more pregnant now! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> It's great to know the baby is healthy and active now when people ask - rather than having that underlying fear that maybe I'm giving them misinformation when they ask how things are going.<br><br>
knowofnada, I am SO glad that you've also gotten to hear that wonderful heartbeat! I'm sure it's disconcerting not to have a range of symptoms. Knowing that I was still ravenously hungry and my uterus was clearly growing kept me at least a little sane!<br><br>
I knew that I'd connect more with the baby once I knew what was going on, and now having heard it, I definitely feel like I can trust my instincts as to what's happening and that I have more connection to the baby. Silly, I know, but it's amazing what it can do to HEAR your baby and to start feeling those kicks! (And just to know you're not completely looney! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">)<br><br>
Thanks, mamas!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love">
