I am so HAPPY!! She is a girl!! And she showed NO SIGNS of Joubert Syndrome. They are going to keep looking for signs but the doctor was so wonderful and said he really thinks this baby is healthy. ;D I am on cloud 9!! We go back May 10th for another ultrasound with the specialist.

She is 8ozs already and measuring a week ahead. She was very active during the ultrasound too!

Here are some more pics......

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...er/17wkus1.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...er/17wkus2.jpg

Yes my son has it.

Joubert syndrome is a rare, genetic disorder that affects the area of the brain that controls balance and coordination. The disorder is characterized by agenesis (absence) or hypoplasia (underdeveloped) part of the brain called the cerebellar vermis and a malformed brain stem. The most common features include ataxia (lack of muscle control), an abnormal breathing pattern called hypernea, sleep apnea, abnormal eye and tongue movements, and hypotonia. Other malformations such as extra fingers and toes, cleft lip or palate, tongue abnormalities, and seizures may also occur.

jessjillbolyer- oh wow, it sounds like you have it rough with your son's disorder. I've met several moms on forums with children having these super rare brain issues. My prayers go out to you as I'm sure he counts as several children when it comes to care.

He is actually pretty easy at this point. Although its like taking care of a baby even though he is 3, I don't mind it at all. He is a real sweetie. I think as he gets older it will get harder then because he will become frustrated that he can't do certain things.

Thanks for the prayers!
