Sorry for the Frankenstein moment, I'm a little excited.
Had second dr's appt and ultrasound today, and what do you know?! There's a baby in there!! I hadn't realized how much I'd psyched myself out and prepared for the worst and held down my hopes until the dr turned the screen toward me and I realized the emotion I was feeling was surprise! Don't know the gender yet, haven't felt any movement, and since I've got a late October due date I know most of y'all have probably moved past the thrill of the 12-week ultrasound, but WOW! It has a little alien head and spine and was wiggling all around -- how cool! I think I'm really going to have a baby!
With a good heartbeat at 12 weeks the dr tells me risk of miscarriage is down to less than 5 percent, which sounds like great odds to me. AND she set my mind at ease about my lack of weight gain/bump* -- apparently that's well within normal for a first-tri, first-timer.
*bump=bump discernable to the naked eye of someone else besides me. I swear I've got one, but no one else can see it.
Tomorrow I've got the NT screening, so that's one more hurdle, but I'm psyched for it! I know lots of mamas are getting their NT screens this week, so I hope everyone is getting good news. Wish me luck! If all goes well, we'll tell MIL and FIL this weekend -- so if you are in the continental US (and maybe Canada and Mexico) and hear a loud shrieking noise on Sunday, don't be alarmed, that's just my MIL (it will be a happy shriek, don't worry).
I just feel joyous. Thanks for letting me ramble and share.
