I've lost my mind...ebay...

I've only used ebay for books before...but suddenly, and in the middle of getting ready for finals, I've discovered it for baby gear...

Damn. I cannot study, I am obsessed watching auctions. And I made the mistake of bidding for on two of the same items in different auctions, thinking I wouldn't win, and now I'm winning both...

to make it worse, I bid for the item, cuz it looked cool and is being sold in all the trendy shops (I also never realized I was so easily influenced!) and now I am wearing my a$$ for a hat, because I looked for reviews (of course, AFTER I bid) of the item (premaxx baby bag) and everybody hates it.

I've never been a gambler. Always hated vegas, and here I am ignoring what I am supposed to be doing so I can wheel and deal for wooden baby rattles.

EGADS!

Well I heart Ebay - I actually bought my diaper bag, a sling, the Amby Baby hammock (LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!) some clothes and some other stuff on Ebay - but i research first and then bid to make sure I am getting a good deal! it IS addictive!

Yeah, eBay can be addictive for sure!

Watch the shipping fees on everything, if it's calculated make sure you check because a lot of sellers are recouping their eBay fees by overcharging for shipping.

I got two diaper covers with plenty of life left with shipping for less than one brand new without shipping so sometimes you can get really good deals!

Have fun... in moderation!

Ebay is the best!! I hardly buy things in a store these days, as I am always able to get a better deal on ebay.
You just really have to learn to be careful and pay attention so that you dont get taken advantage of!
also, check out esnipe.com - i have used it a few times and it works great, helps you save money as it bids in the final seconds for you and you dont have to be by the computer as the auction is ending.

Ebay is my "drug" of choice
....

I might get flamed for saying this but if the auction has more then 24 hours left...you can re-tract your bid(for the item you are winning 2 of)...Just don't make a habit of it

I love getting ebay mail! i am a diaper shop-a -holic!
I LOVE eBay, but it is so addicting that I try to be really strict with myself. When I bid on something, I put in my max and if I'm watching something, I make a note of my max. Usually my max is 20-40% off of the retail price depending on condition and how hard the item is to find. That tends to keep me in check.

When dd#1 was about 4 months and I needed new diapers for her I became addicted to E-bay
. I used to spend hours looking and bidding, I finally had to quit cold turkey. I'm not joking, I was that addicted.

As soon as I read this post I left MDC for Ebay. I never even thought about looking there for wooden rattles. I sure hope I am able to keep myself under control this time

Hubby and I discovered ebay about a month or so ago. Bid on some CDs and lost but I was cool with that as after shipping it wasn't worth it. It is quite exciting though!

I did the same thing with the darn TP. Now I got Cynthia Mosher up my behind because I was posting too much. Well I was posting so much because I became a dipe-a-holic,

Hello, my name is Cindy, and I'm a TP addict...

Stepping in from Oct DDC. My hubby & I have both done business on ebay and also buy on ebay. The trick is to bid the absolute highest amount you are willing to spend (adding in the s&h) and let it go OR set a computer timer as a reminder to go to the auction at the final few minutes of the auction and bid the highest amount in the final minute or two of the auction. I've learned my lesson and gotten frustrated many a time. I actually do buy-it-now items quite a bit (if they are worth it), cause I don't have the time for the auctions.
final minutes?
hehe i bid in final seconds. like when there is 15 seconds left. that way i make sure i get the item. anything other than that and theres a big chance of loosing. and i HATE to lose on ebay

Yup, half the fun of an auction is sniping it (manually) at 10 seconds to go.

The sniping at the last second, literally, was what I became addicted to. I would get this huge adrenaline rush waiting and refreshing..... just thinking about it makes me want to bid on something, ANYTHING

Oh my god, I do the same thing. Evil. On my part and on ebay's part.... That is how you get the best deals though!

Of course, it you're not trying to lose your wallet than you are better off bidding the maximum earlier.

sniping helps us get our meanies out

I too love ebay-homeschool stuff-cloth dipes-I got the best deal on maternity jeans too on ebay. I always watch an item and figure if I don't remember to check it before it ends I didn't really need it anyway. Something I did notice though-the fisher price nature swing goes for more on ebay than you can buy it for at BRU-it was my one luxury I really wanted-dh cannot do without a cradle swing! it was his major crutch last time

but always research an item you are not already familiar with-and check the sellers feedback.

My favorite cloth dipes come from ebay!
oh and sometimes if you email the seller- especially if they sell a lot of an item -you can save more. I got an extra discount on my indian prefolds by emailing the seller-not a lot of a discount-but hey it was worth an email!
