I've been meaning to for some time, and had bought a pair of needles, the Stitch 'n' Bitch Handbook (which I ) and some yarn, but I never seemed to have the time. Then this weekend I had to have an emergency appendectomy, and spent hours & hours sitting in a hospital bed...knittting! I've already figured out how to make a slip knot, cast on, and knit rows, and I have about 7" of plain knit scarf done already. I know this must sound really pitiful to all of you experienced knitters, but I'm pretty darn excited! :LOL

Congrats on learning to knit!

You'll soon find out how addicting both knitting and building your stash of yarn are, if you haven't already.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

I've recently learned also. Almost done with my first garter stitch scarf. I even purled my initial on it. Happy knitting and I hope you're well.

I hope you feel better soon! That's some rough surgery- but I hope that knitting helped take some of the pain. So... did you actually decipher directions on pain meds? If so- that's amazing! It usually takes me all my brain power on a good day!
