Jackson County Deputy Accused Of Using Pepper Spray On Kids During Parade
What, no taser?
|HIXTON, Wis. -- A Jackson County sheriff's deputy is accused of using pepper spray on a group of people riding in a parade, including four children.|
Three families from Hixton have filed a complaint with the Sheriff's Department.
One of the complainants, Leeann Wathen, said that about 20 people were on a rookie ball float during a July Fourth parade.
Wathen said that her 14-year-old daughter had a cup of water that she was using to refill squirt guns. Wathen said that the sheriff's deputy said to her daughter jokingly, "Don't you dare throw it at me" and pulled out his pepper spray.
Her daughter threw the cup of water and the deputy fired off the pepper spray. Wathen said that it hit four children and two adults in the face.
Jackson County Sheriff Richard Young has declined comment.
