This is one part of a tech industry newsletter I put out today and wanted to copy and paste it here in the hopes that some of you might also consider my plea. Please feel free to copy, paste and forward at will. Thank you for reading.

Help Find Jim Gray!

Each day I turn on the news hoping to see an update on what has happened to a tech industry industry icon, and my friend, Jim Gray. Instead there is nothing. There is coverage of celebrities - the breakups, the marriages, the babies, the deaths. It's in the news, it's after the news, it's in "special reports" and "nightly news updates". These stories bring entertainment but they don't bring hope and they don't offer any oppurtunity for change.

Dr. Jim Gray has affected the lives of practically every man, woman, and child on this planet and is truly a National Treasure. When anyone books an airline ticket, uses their ATM card, buys a book from Amazon, views the earth or weather from a satellite or any thousands of different transactions or database functions that happen every day we have Dr. Jim Gray to thank. So why no coverage?

Well I guess the easy answer is that there is no coverage because there is no news. But this begs the question of the responsibilities of the news channels - are they only there for reporting and not for soliciting change?

The fact is that Jim might well be alive somewhere is the world, either on the high seas or in some remote area. Our news networks have the platform to reach far across the world where someone might have a piece of information that could bring Jim Gray home. Home to his family, home to his friends, home to all those he has mentored over the years.

Please consider taking a moment today to contact the news networks in your area and those shows that provide national coverage, and ask them to keep Jim Gray's picture in the news. Ask them to help find Jim Gray. It takes only a moment.

http://helpfindjim.com/
