I know I had our son in one for walks before he was six months (I think he was about 3mos, actually). I got a gently-used Expedition (the BRUs brand) and used it almost exclusively until he got big enough to want to sit up and look around behind him. I find it much easier to push, although the cheaper strollers tend not to "track" very well - the front wheel will drift left or right, and you're constantly lifting it to go straight again. Still easier than a travel system stroller , though, particularly if you're just walking.
