ebethmom- I have the same problem. Unfortunately only liquid iron works for me. I tried everything else and was finally threatened with iron injections. I was around 10 last week so they aren't worried for when I go into labor.

I had an ob appointment today. I've been on bedrest for 2 weeks due to high blood pressure. My bp was 113/60 so it was way down. I'm 1 1/2cm dialated, 80% effaced, and -1 station. I was closed tight last week so we are happy with the progress. I'm 38 weeks and am so ready.

I can't wait to hear about more new babies.

Mamajaza, hope your cold is better!
ebethemom~dark chocolate is high in iron, as are raisins, so I've been indulging in chocolate covered raisins and chunks of dark chocolate for mine and baby's health :LOL Heck Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia has cherries (also high in iron) AND dark chocolate. Extra "C" will help you absorb the iron too, are you taking a sodium ascorbate supplement? I take 500-1000mg of sodium ascorbate (I have a powder which I add to juice or water) with my prenatal. Your tonic sounds perfect and I'm sure all will be well.
Keep us posted Klothos!

That's good news about dark chocolate!! I thought I had read somewhere that chocolate inhibits iron absorbtion, so I was all set to give it up. I just picked a handful of raisins over chocolate cottage cheese for my snack just now. (I know, my dh AND ds both think that chocolate cottage cheese is nasty, but I like it.)

I've been taking extra Vitamin C and B complex. But I did slack off last week on the super healthy foods. It's hard to eat well when someone else is planning the menu. I took my protein snacks, but neglected the iron goodies. I should have taken my sunflower seeds and raisins, at least.

I did add an chelated iron supplement to the routine today. And Cream of Wheat for breakfast. My schedule is also slowing down, so I can devote more energy to the "eat well, get that hemoglobin up" project.

Misty ~ glad to hear about your blood pressure! I felt like putting myself on bedrest for the afternoon, but dh has an all day meeting. Sounds like your baby is getting ready!! How exciting!

We got our birth tub last night! It's one of the smaller fishy pools. My ds wants to get it out now. I'm fairly certain he'll be right there with me in the water during labor.

I might have to take a trip down to the store now. I have to do what's best for my baby, right? I'm a coco fiend. If I buy ice cream it will assuredly be double chocolate fudge brownie supreme.

All this talk of food is making me hungry...

My appointment today was uneventful. The baby's head is still pretty far up and my cervix is still about a fingertip. DH says our babies are stubborn like their mommy, lol. Oh well, still a ways to go til our due date and a lot can happen. Back on the 2nd (just before 40 weeks) to see if any progress has been made. Meanwhile, I'm cleaning and baking up a storm.

Ebethmom ~ hope everything straightens out with the hemoglobin but sounds like your pretty savvy in the health department.

Mamajaza ~ hope your cold leaves soon; summer colds are no fun.

I had my midwife appt. today.

She suggested an ultrasound for position, and I was like, I can tell you right now the baby is head down facing out, and she felt around and agreeed with me. Another US would be pretty pointless IMHO.

Anyways she told me to spend some time on my hands and knees to get the baby to flip around so I don't have nasty back labour.
Hopefully I can stop being so lazy and start packing soon, I have to move in a week!

I am putting a bunch of old clothes up on E-bay so hopefully i will have to paypal to play with and buy some NB diapers

*Mamajaza* and me seem to be the only ones stalking the trading post for NB diapers lol..

I died a bunch of prefolds today some turned out ok.. others not so good LOL

anyways, best of luck everyone and hopefully these last few weeks will be good for all of us. Please please let this nesting thing kick in soon I really have to clean this place up!

Oh, yeah, I'm stalking the TP. I just got some extra $$ to get dipes with. Now I can't decide, PF's? Kissaluvs? bigger diapers? Hmmmm.

I'm not stalking the Diapering TP b/c I can't afford to become a TP addict! I have a full set of Motherease and will use the diaper service for the first few months (gift from MIL and teachers at school) with a ton of different NB wraps I've been handed down.
My babe is still high, but I have 5 more weeks to go.
Nesting would be good, napping is where I'm at. . .oh well. I have time.
Must send dh out for some form of chocolate, or perhaps find the energy to whip up a batch of dark chocolate chip and raisin cookies.
Arrgh heartburn tonight and the papaya enzyme isn't helping.

i support that :LOL ~ until today not much has gotten done... and then while i was napping my SO crept out and rearranged the entire living room for me, just the way i had been telling him i wanted (but complaining that i didn't have the energy to do myself).

i look at the pile of laundry that needs to get washed, and the dishes in the sink, and my first reaction is to freak out, followed very closely by a nap. ah well.

Yeah, not only has the nesting instinct not kicked in, but it seems like this place is getting worse! As we start to bring in our baby stuff, things are getting very cluttered, and it's driving me crazy.

Midwife says the baby's head is very low, which is good. We haven't done a cervical check yet, so no idea about dilation. My baby shower is on Saturday, which should be fun.

Heartburn is still a killer. I'm peeing every 10 minutes. My feet are sore and swollen. Everyone tells me I don't look very big but I feel huge. Bitch moan complain.

I redid the GBS test yesterday (I tested positive 2 weeks ago), and am hoping that it will be negative. We will continue to test every week until birth. I haven't decided what to do about antibiotics if I am positive. I told the midwife to bring them and I will decide at the time. My neighbor, whom I am very close to, is an RN, and offered to do the IV should I want to, as she does about 15 a day and is much more practiced at it than my midwives are! However, I am going along on the assumption that I will not be having antibiotics.

I'm really trying to get all the loose ends tied up around here - paperwork that needs to be done, filing, business stuff - so I don't have to worry about it with a newborn. But there's so much that I want to do, that I end up doing nothing.

And to top it all off, am I totally emotionally unbalanced, which is very unlike me. Waah.

I know about the clutter! I joined a yahoo group through freecycle.org and as I type someone is coming to pick up a bunch of items from my doorstep I don't need/want.... ahhh back to feng shui...lol

dh was so good to me yesterday..he hung the clothes on the line, washed dishes, helped dd practice reading and gave me a 2 hour foot massage with shea butter given I had to let him watch Spike TV during the foot rub....but it was worth it..I kept my eyes closed..LOL

I have 3 wks left of school, then I can take the final and focus on preparing for labor. I am set with the diapers, I totally overbought with the dipes and baby clothes...
finally found a diaper bag I love!! http://www.babymayhem.com/cgi-bin/am...locale-us.html
its not too huge, but it'll work for 3-5 hour trips..I really love it..can't wait to load it up with some kissaluvs
Nesting. It's just not happening here. It doesn't help that I've been so tired (and gone all last week). At least our living room is clean. I really want to tackle my office next - it's right off of our bedroom, and I want the bedroom/office space to be a relaxing haven during the birth. And it is SO far from it.

Dh has yard work to do today, and he wants to go out (just the two of us) tonight. I'm supposed to call the babysitter this morning. Whoops! It isn't even morning anymore.

I'm looking around at all these boxes of STUFF in my office. I really would like to empty them, but where would all the stuff go? Most of it is music and books, and I am completely out of shelf space. Grrrrr.

I had AWFUL pubic bone pain all day yesterday, but it seems to be a bit better today. Here's my stupid affliction - my shoulders ache. I tense them up when I'm trying to haul my massive belly around.

I wish we had some extra $$ for NB diapers! We have a dozen Kissaluvs and a few NB covers. I think I'm going to buy a few more covers, and just go with Premie prefolds. Then we'll buy some infant prefolds later. My friend Jen does have some fitteds and covers that she's letting us borrow!! I'm so excited! She is the ultimate hyena, and she's loaning US her stash!! I feel very honored.

Our church is throwing a shower for us this Sunday. I'm looking forward to the festivities. I asked for gift certificates to a lactation/specialty store, and gift cards for Target. And I put a Lands' End diaper bag on my wish list. We'll see! The store (Motherhood Express) can special order co-sleepers - I'm hoping to have enough in gift certificates to whittle that cost down to size.

Ds has already asked if Lila can come out today! "And you say OUCH!" I told him not today, she has to grow bigger.

I joined my freecycle too I've given away a FEW things and it's nice not to have to haul the stuff to goodwill!

Anyways today I am turning off the computer, I am walking away, and I am going to pack and clean... there is nothing you can do to stop me.. lol

no I will not spend another minute looking at diapers online! AHH Ok off I go..
I have had such a nice past few days.... Tuesday I had my Bradley class. My df has been attending classes with me and will be my labor coach as dh is not really into the whole coaching role. However, df could not come this week so dh went instead (he has gone one other time and does ask questions and we discuss the topics etc....all the time). Well this week we had our 45 minute labor rehearsal where we are supposed to practice the relaxation and techniques that we have learned so far. I gave dh a crash course and was happy that he did not seem to be dreading it. First of all we went out to a real "grown up" restaurant as dd stayed with a friend. The dinner was fantastic and we actually got to talk to each other without being interrupted by our 4 year old!!! We then went to class. He did so well!!! We was not annoyed or shy to be around the other people and really seemed to know what to do (I guess he has been paying attention to me ) For the first time I felt very supported and understood by him and feel confident now that even if my df can not be there for me for some crazy reason, that he will and we will be fine. Actually, I have confidence in myself and realize that this is the most important part anyway. I am so looking forward to labor and delivery and have no fears about what is to come.

Yesterday we went to the Jersey Shore. We went to a very beautiful quiet town with a nice beach and beautiful outdoor walking mall. We spent about 4 hours on the beach. Dh and I took turns playing with dd in the water for awhile while the other rested under the umbrella. I actually had at least 45 minutes of uninterrupted time to lay on the beach and listen to the waves. It was so wonderful!! I have a strong connection to the ocean due to having visited the same place during my pg with dd so it was so nice to reconnect before labor. After hanging out in the town all day (shopping, put-put golf...) we had a late dinner and then hopped in the car for a 3 hour drive home. Dd slept the WHOLE way home!! WOW two chances in 1 week to talk to each other without being interrupted...dh and I did not know what to do with ourselves!!! I feel like we really got the chance to reconnect...nice before we embark on parenthood again.

The past two nights I have had about 2 hours of very regular, 1 minute long contractions at around 8:30 or so. The contractions are definitely stronger than the bh I have been having for 3 months and last alot longer. I can still talk through them and they fizzle out eventually..... LOTs of very low pelvic pressure and aching in my thighs today.

My mom is flying in to stay with me 1 week earlier than expected. I was starting be very nervous about where dd would stay if I happened to need to to the hospital in the middle of the night. She will be here tonight!!!

Sorry such a long post but just had to share all of this with you. Hope everyone is feeling well and can't wait to start reading (writing ) birth stories

I am officially 2 weeks away from my EDD I know that it may be longer, but its so exciting to be this close anyway.

I finished with work (totally for the next 14 months at least) on Thursday, and I am so ready to be able to focus all of my energy on my family! I have 3 covers that I am half way through sewing, and a large box of fabric just ready to become diapers. But, I'm not letting myself indulge in my projects until I get a little bit of cleaning done :sigh

How did it go not looking at the diapers all day bikruca? :LOL

Jen~ sounds like your family is "nesting"

How did it go not looking at diapers all day?

Well I only bought 3 wonderoos and 6 NB fitteds.. thats good right : :

There was a SALE!

At least I had a diaper high so I DID get a lot of packing done..

I have SOOO much fluff in the mail its not even funny. I have over 1 dozen diapers in the mail! (hopefully they get here before we move!!!!)

Ok I think I have enough though.. lol the really sad thing is that I have yards of fabric at home and I could make tons of diapers.. but I think I am addicted to buying them!

I put a whole bunch of stuff on e-bay (some of the large diapers I've made and some of my maternity dresses and some clothes that I will never fit into again!) to fund my paypal lol.. in a few days I will finish my shopping!

Anyways!

SO I made the baby turn around, I can now feel his little bum I was suprized how easy it was! I just kneeled down and he spun around!

We wated the "comfort measures for childbirth" video last night.. DH was really grossed out by the squirting of water when the baby comes out lol, he wants me to have a waterbirth so it doesn't look as gross!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I think I will be having a water birth.. my midwife was sayiong the birthing centre has a huge tub in the birthing rooms, and even though they don't advocate water births, a lot of babies "fall out" in there LOL thats really exciting!

Anyways have a nice weekend everyone!
