Really once DS was sitting up well and started to look interested in crawling, and we wanted to be sure to encourage movement rather then constrict it. Really I only used the jumper from about months 4-7, when I wanted to put him down to play, so I could fold laundry or make dinner, and didnt want to put him on his back. DS1 LOVED it, and DS2 now LOVES it.

I know this isn't answering u'r ?, but our 7 month old is JUST starting to LOVE his jumper. never thought I would get him one, but glad we did. it doesn't make him not want to do other things though. he loves to jump and play in it, but then he's more then happy to crawl and roll and sit and play when he's not in it. we also have a walker (no stair in our home) and he LOVES that too...he gets around great..all over the house. he screams w/ excitement when i put him in it...

Hmmmm.....I lent our Jumperoo to a friend (and then lost touch with her somewhat) and I'm trying to decide if I should get it back. Dd is about 6.5 months. Sounds like she might get a couple more months of use out of it, right?

it totally depends on the kid. dd1 loved her exersaucer; was in it pretty much every day (not all day!) from about 3.5 months until 6.5 months but then she figured out how to sit on her own and how to get into a sitting position on her own and somehow the exersaucer lost it's appeal. in my experience, it depends on how mobile the kid is whether or not they still like it.

With my 6 and 7 yr olds they would hang out in the exersaucer until about 1 yr. With my 9 month old for the past 3 or so months he acts like we're dropping him into a vat of boiling water if we try to put him in it.

I think my DD used hers till she was about a year and could figure out how to crawl out of it. She was crawling at six months and walking at nine but when I needed her to be contained she still loved it. I used it mostly for when I was taking a shower and wasn't comfortable with her being mobile unsupervised.

My 7.5 month old really loves his Jumper and Exersaucer. But he doesn't sit up or crawl yet so I don't know how much longer he'll stay interested in them. I guess if he loses interest soon then it's no big loss because we bought the stuff used off Craigslist and can just resell it, so we won't be out a lot of money.
