Hello,

I rarely post over here, but I have June 2000 and July 2000 girls, who obviously are about to turn 7. Last year they were content with simple birthday parties, but this year they are wanting something more exciting.

My June baby wants an Elvis/Bike riding party, with Elvis music ect.
My July baby wants a Karate party(I am trying to talk her into a India/Tropical party.

Bike riding sounds great, and we have invited everyone and their bikes!
I donn't have a clue about the Karate party.

Any ideas for how to handle 7 year old parties?

Thanks!

My son's martial art's studio hosts birthday parties. I don't know a thing about them - I just saw the sign once. It was a set price per child. I could tell that all invitees did not have to be his students, because he listed different prices for "enrolled or not enrolled" children. But I don't know if a child who is not one of his students could have a party there.

I was kind of laughing because my son's teacher is very fun-loving an kid-friendly. But there are major RULES in that place (most dealing with tradition and respect). The students honor and follow them, but I wonder how hard it would be to get a roomful of seven year olds to do so if they had no experience in martial arts prior to the party.

for my June 2000 boy (and my June 2004 one, too!) we had a Wizard Party. My olsdest wanted it very fancy but the most I could manage was a few crafts. We made wands, wizard hats and Chromatropes. We did it in the backyard, bbq'd hot dogs, the kids ran around and played. It was pretty low kay but fun

I REALLY wanted to have a pirate party, but maybe next year.

We did a family party without friends. I am tired of the junky toys we often get as gifts. I made the dragon cake from the recent issue of Family Fun magazine. We are gluten free and it was the first time I used a mix. I usually bake from scratch. It turned out well. We had a lot of fun. Samantha does want a friend to spend the night this Friday. It will probably happen next week instead.
