Normally I do not read Fit Pregnancy magazine, as I'm neither fit nor pregnant, but I was glancing through it at work on my break yesterday. They had a great article on ten what they called "weaning fallacies" and why *not* to quit breastfeeding. A lot of them are the things people throw at nursing moms or use as excuses ("he's too old to nurse," "If your baby is fussy or spits up after breastfeeding, there's something wrong with your milk," etc.). After each myth they give the "fact" as to why this is not the case.

(Yeah, it's stuff most of us know already, but it's nice to see it in a mainstream pregnancy mag.)

Hey pretty cool. I always like to see breastfeeding promoted in mainstream stuff.

good for them! i shudder when i think of all the stuff i read in mainstream pregnancy/parenting magazines while i was pregnant...before i discovered that they were mostly wrong and sometimes only ways to advertise formula. so it is good to see some stuff like that in there!

i really like Fit Pregnancy (and am disappointed they haven't sent me my first issue yet, although i signed up for a subscription months ago) ~ but i still can't get over that a few months ago they said in big letters, right on the cover, YES! You CAN Breastfeed your baby! and then right on the inside cover was a TWO PAGE SPREAD for formula.

it just reeks of badness.
