I'm tired of being hit, slapped, punched, kicked, scratched, and having my hair pulled. I'm tired of guarding my very pregnant belly and earlobes (earrings) from a thrashing, screaming, kicking, out-of-control child. I'm tired of saying "don't kick the dog" a hundred times a day. I'm tired of toys being thrown.

I'm so tired of being his pummeling board. :

His behavior is just in the absolute crapper because he's in the middle of a language explosion. I'm thankful for the language. I've absolutely had it up to here with the violence. He's had 4 huge fits today where he beat the crap out of me, and that's just today. The day ain't over yet.

we made a bowling set out of water bottles and a 4 square ball for our living room last night in an impromptu "FOR THE LOVE OF SCIENCE PLEASE STOP HITTING US" moment... An hour later our sweaty worn out boy was passed out on the bed next to me (first time going to sleep in bed without nursing EVER).

His crashing and destruction needs appeared to be well served

DS is in a language explosion too, so yeah he has been a little loopy.

Okay, I guess I can be happy Maura only smacks me in the face and then says "Ow!" with a big grin.

Maybe he needs one of those punching dolls, that fall over and roll back up.

Finch, my boys were almost four when I was at your stage of pregnancy. I remember feeling the exact same way. I think they sensed that I wanted them to be more hands off (with good reason!), and so they got even more physical with me. I also think my state of mind, and my wanting to protect the baby, made me reach my "I'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE!" level a lot faster than when I was less pregnant.

Dh would come home and I'd be in tears because I was so tired of being a jungle gym and punching bag all day. It was just too much.

s It gets better.

Finch I am so sorry! Been there. In fact dh and I spent part of our IEP meeting today describing when we were there.

I hope you can find him some other smashing and crashing activities that will help. Is he also really angry when he does it, or is it all about the smashing and crashing?

Great about the language, that's so terrific!

Can't decide. Should I start with how great the language explosion is? Or with how crappy it must be to be a pregnant punching bag?

Jeez, where's the appropriate smiley for this situation?

Hope the slamming into you stops and the language continues!

Bede's language jumped quite a bit in the last two weeks (his was a huge receptive leap) and came after a month + of poop flinging and ceiling scrubbing several times a day.

Why they gotta do the sensory stuff to get the wiring right for the advances, I dunno.

I hope he quits soon!

My ds bites when he's about to make a language leap. Usually me : The hair pulling is just his normal happy self I can't imagine how pissy I'd be if I was pregnant!

I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this right now. It truly is draining in all aspects. Tonight my son attacked me because the board game started tilting in my favor. It is so exhasting dealing with these times. I hope it passes quickly.

Hugs mama! Andrew regresses and can get violent when he learns new skills or excells in other areas, its extremely frustrating! I hope he gets over this hump and adjusts back soon for your (and his) sake!

It's anger. He's totally pissed off when he does it. Usually because I've used the dreaded word, "no." Heinous sin, dontcha know? How DARE I tell him he can't run wild all over the school grounds, out of my line of sight, and jump up and down in front of classroom windows??!!!? How DARE I tell him that we're not going bye bye right this very second...he wants to GO!! How DARE I insist he let me change his diaper, that is almost sagging to his knees with the weight of a gallon of pee, before he goes outside to play!!! And it goes on and on and on.

Kodamama, I fantasize about doing that very thing.....

Grumble. At least all his fit-throwing made it so he went to sleep super fast tonight.

I don't know if he picked it up at school or is just doing it instinctively due to his anger. Ds also does the hitting when he is tired and if I'm either saying "No" or trying to get him to do something he doesn't want to do (brush his teeth, go to the bathroom, etc).

It's hard mama. I don't know how I'd handle it if I was pregnant while ds was doing it.
