Just had my 12 week appt (12 weeks Sat) and after an almost hour wait, talked to the dr for about 3 minutes. That was it. No listening for heartbeat, no feeling belly. Nothing. Just a few questions and went over test results. Everything looks great.
Not sure how to take it but I'm going for the positive - the practice won't do anything unless needed. I asked him about it and he said can't really measure and feel uterus until 14 weeks.
Last practice I was at for DS, did this from day 1.
Just different than what I was expecting.
Good thing is that DH didn't miss anything today because he was at work.

Hoping someone can tell me that, yes, this is ok and normal for dr to do. Just a little reassurance for a tired mama.

Wow that is a lame appointment, I really don't like dr.s! Did you ask him to check for a heartbeat? I am going in today, hopefully my last OB visit before I switch to a midwife, and I am going to ask him to check. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow so I know there is a chance we won't hear it but I gotta ask. I really don't remember my OB visits with my first but my midwife visits with my son she checked my uterus every time and checked for heartbeat starting at 12 weeks. (that was my first visit) I know dr.s are so much less hands on, though. Don't worry, that's probably just how he does his visits, he'll probably do all that stuff next time.

AT my 14 week appointment my doctor almost sent me off without letting me hear the heartbeat, but I was like, "Aren't we going to listen to the heartbeat?" And she was all, "Oh, yeah."

I would totally want to hear my baby's heartbeat and call them and tell them you waited forever yesterday and then you didn't get to hear it and you want to come in for a second and have a nurse doppler you.

Ugh!! I'm sorry you had such a brief appointment and that he didn't even hardly talk to you. I often wait for my doc but when she comes in the room, she isn't ever in a hurry, plays with my son and talks to me like I'm all she has to do at the moment!

My dr is the same way as far as checking fundal height. I know this is not done until later on.. But they did check heart beat, blood pressure, weight.. That sounds a little odd that they do not do any of these things. Then again this is what I know , and am used too have this happening. You would think he would have at least tried for the heartbeat
