I won a wrap off mamatoto for 5 dollars to cover the shipping! Its 5 yrds. of a light weight fabric, and while I was attempting to put my two year old dd on my back, I dropped her on the floor!!!

Dh helped me and we got it together and it was pretty cool!

I'm looking forward to trying to hip carry and others that won't be directly resting on my growing belly!!!

Yeah!! Good for you; you must have found a broken link or a typo!? I tried but i think Tracy must have it pretty staightened out by now. How is your little one? I'm always worried I'll drop my dd too but I'm getting much better. My dh was helping me with my new Moby tonight. I was trying the 'backpack 2 carry", I think its also called Tibetan. Its the only one I think I can tie around my belly!!

Your link didn't work for me
but it may just be my dial-up provider.

Hi,
I am a mamatoto advocate. I am glad you like your wrap.

You aren't kidding about underestimating their weight! lol My two year old is 32lbs now and my wrap is a lifesaver. It looks like you have done the rucksack carry. I find that carry pretty comfortable. I like to have my toddlers legs wrapped around me in a sitting position though. I find that the fabric stays over his bum better.

One of my favorite carries for my toddler is the back wrap cross carry with the chest belt. I can't get the regular back wrap cross carry tight enough, but the chest belt makes it super easy to tie on. You can tie it in front above your belly like you did with the rucksack carry. Here is a link http://mamatoto.org/PortalVBVS/HowTo/BCWChestBelt/ I can try to post a pic of this later today you if you need to see what it looks like.

Also, When learning to put my toddler on my back by myself with no one to help, I knelt down on the floor or on my bed so that he wouldn't have far to fall. It doesn't take long for both you and your toddler to feel confident enough to do this standing up. I think it took us about a week.

Happy babywearing!
Angie

p.s. I see that you are knitting soakers. I have been knitting a lot of soakers too. I just love them.

I second this.

Also, when I'm at home and putting dd in a back wrap I walk to my bathroom bent over(bathroom isn't big enough to put it on in there) and make sure that everything looks right in the mirror before I stand up. I'm at the point where I put it on in the living room and can stand up to walk to the bathroom to make sure it's right.
Cool! I'm hoping to try these ideas soon! I've been busy, running here and there my pg friend has had awful complications, she ruptured at 21 weeks, etc. Just utter caos around here right now.
