I just lanolized my nb covers I made for DD (they're so cute - some are hand dyed some are embroidered). Anyways, I put about a 2-3 inch strip of lanolin in the hot water and lanolized 5 covers with that. Now they are still moist and feel a bit sticky to the touch. Do you think that is OK? You'd think I'm a wool newbie but I just haven't been using wool on DS so now I'm using it on dd who is 2wo and I'm wondering if I didn't overlanolize.

Will they get less sticky over time or not until I wash themi?

TIA

That does seem like a bit much lanolin. Was it pure lanolin (like Lasinoh)? If so I usually use about a pea sized amount for one cover, so maybe a 1/2 inch or so for five covers.

I don't think you'll have a problem with them. As you use them the lanolin will sort of absorb into the wool. And then as you wash them it will wash out.

It's been my experience that as they dry they will de-stickify and that the lanolin will work its way into the fibers as the covers are used.

Sometimes if you let it sit in a nice warm place the lanolin will melt in, too. I put mine in a nice warm sunny car (but not in direct sunlight usually) or the dryer after a load of clothes has run. Let it get nice and warm then kinda massage the lanolin in.

I tend to over lanolize on purpose. All will be fine. You'll get to lanolize less often as a result of overdoing it, or so I've found. I agree with the others-they'll definitely get less sticky/tacky feeling over time. If you just don't like the texture, simply rewash once or twice.
